I really do think that all those who said that the woman has to receive 40 lashes are the fanatics of the Muslim religion. I don't think that the Qur'an says something of a punishment just like that. I have been looking for some other ways to help the people of Sudan like The Emma Academy Project that I have recently visited. They will be building a school in Leer, Sudan.

I responded to your comments about the Talmud on the other thread, the one about Ron Paul and Iran. I will repeat it. I totally and without exception repudiate anything in the Talmud that is racist against gentiles or anyone else. Now, I call on the Muslims to do the same regarding their holy book, the Quran. Where are all the peaceful Muslims taking to the streets to protest what the radicals have done? The only ones in the streets are the Islamo Fascists who are shouting and screaming for murder and violance.

And again, I reiterate, Jews and Christians have progressed a great deal. But there is still a substantial sum of Muslims who are stuck in a 7th century mentality.

Why do 70+ % of wingnuts think there is a moral distinction in favour of non-muslims between so called suicide bombings by people who have no other means to resist in a meaningful way and western artillery or air force personnel dropping bombs on civilian areas purely because they are ordered to by their superiors? Or perhaps bulldozer drivers demolishing buildings with women and children trapped inside.

Rhett says “the vast majority of Muslims are not like this.” So I guess when they have riots in the streets when the Pope says something they don’t like or when a school teacher gives a teddy bear a name they don’t like, its just the crazy ones who come out into the streets right? All the rational ones just stay home huh?

You should have a look at the Pew Global Attitudes Survey. If the vast majority of Muslims are not like that, why do 70% of Palestinians support suicide bombings?

I have to agree with J LOWELL on this one,she should have known better,especially since she was living in the country for some time.
Me thinks that the lady might be’ mixed up with’ the boys in MI6
or Whitehall is up to something in the Sudan.

One fact you seem to overlook or ignore ,whatever the reason,is that Africa is not totally Muslim.You should read more about what happened in Rwanda and see who were implicated in the attracities there and what religion .Check this, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/3671464.stm.Also,read more about the Congo,Burundi,etc.if you don’t want to appear onesided person who sees Islam behind every problem in the world.But,do you have a Muslim as one of your best friend because you remind me of those who atack other groupe but would interject that a person of that group is his best buddy!!!

You westerners think from a narrow Western perspective and apply your rules all over the globe. That is imperial arrogance. Cartoons are part of Western Culture. So the rest of us must accept them even when they denigrate a person venerated by a section of the people. You think that naming Teddy Bears after the Prophet is not a terrible thing to do. But people do take offence in Islam as animals are seen as lower than acceptable and some animals are “Haram”. In my country , there are many practices which can each be an object of derision – The Shiva Linga for instance is a phallic symbol which is worshipped by millions of people. I dare any Westerner to say derogatory things about this practice when they are here. For the worshipper , these are sacred objects and need to be seen from that perspective.
You westerners have also learnt your lessons from hard experience.Gollywogs are no longer part of British childhood because they were cariacatures of people of African origin. No self respecting enlightened English person would have them in his or her house.It was not considered offensive to refer to black people as “negroes” in the past but it is no longer acceptable. And look at what happened to James Watson after he accidentally spoke his mind – furious back peddling and a loss of stature in the public eye.
I think you might garner some wisdom from the author (Stewart Lee?) of “Jerry Springer – The Opera”. Lee was interviewed on the BBC show, Hard Talk. about his musical which he said was written to poke fun at the “Christian Myth”. It reportedly has a scene where a pole dancer tries to masturbate Jesus in a napkin. He was asked if he would do the same thing to Islam and he said he would not do that because he was not born into that religion and he would respect the beliefs of others.
In a truly pluralistic society one respects the the rules that others draw for themselves as long as they do not impinge on the rights of individual members of that group or society as a whole. One may not agree to wear the veil but Muslims (including teachers) should be permitted the freedom to wear veils if they so wish.
