It's a topic I've followed in earnest for more than a decade. Here in Canada a groundswell against missile defence helped keep our involvement to the bare minimum - but for how long? An excellent book on the subject targeting the Canadian audience can be found by economic nationalist Mel Hurtig - <i>Rushing to Armageddon: The Shocking Truth about Canada, Missile Defence, and Star Wars</i> Militarizing space will have no winners.
