Took time to read Derbyshire’s piece on Ron Paul; it’s the first of a multi-part article on the so-called “Revolution”. One might be pardoned the suspicion, I hope, that part two will be printed in disappearing ink as such is now the status of both of Paul and his revolution. This business of “fighting within the Republican Party” for it’s soul has to be the most insufferable pap. Asking followers to cleanse the Republican Party is like encouraging some off-duty alter boy to place a consecrated host on the tongue of Richard Perle. In this respect its hard to differentiate Paul with his corp of college age true believers from any other lobby-owned hack. If he doesn’t have the guts to step out ahead of events and offer himself as an independent candidate, he doesn’t have any guts, period. Sorry, but revolutions are made by extraordinary people, not ones that duck for cover after the excitement level pays the light bill.
