Vacation? What’s That?
It must be nice to be able to take a vacation — or to tell your readers that “postings will resume when I feel better.” So la-dee-dah! Unfortunately, here at Antiwar.com, the word “vacation” is missing from our lexicon. Not only that, but there ain’t no sick leave –Â because here I am, with the worst case of bronchitis, ever, pounding away at my keyboard. And it’s fundraising week — or, rather, weeks — which means I’m doing double-time. Ah, but I’m not really all that interested in a vacation — never having had one, I don’t miss it! And I’m not really complaining: just reminding you that we are in the middle of our Winter 2008 Fundraising Drive (if I capitalize it, that makes it seem much more official, don’t you think?) and the Antiwar.com is busy as ever, working at breakneck speed to get you the best coverage of our f*cked-up world on the Internets.
So what’re you waiting for? Contribute today!Â

Nuttin! I robbed my account and cross my fingers nothing more breaks down or I’ll have to live in my car for a while.

Hi Justin,
Feel better!
I signed up for automatic monthly contributions last week – I highly recommend that to everybody.
Thanks for linking to my occasional antiwar writings.
Best,
Brian

Much gratitude to all of those who give, especially the monthly contributions. Antiwar is the only site that I give money to and I have done it in the previous fundraising drives. But times are tough for me now and I won’t be able to do it this time I’m afraid. When I’m back in the black I’m going to set up one of those auto-transfer things because this site is always my first stop on the Internet.

Rex, thanks for your comments. I know there are a lot of people in the same situation, as I believe I said in a recent column, and that’s whyh it’s taking longer to reach our goal. It used to take just a week: now it takes two. It’s the Iraq recession — soon, I fear, to turn into a depression.

And yes, I am feeling a bit better. Thanks to everyone for their concern.

Justin, why is it that you don’t allow yourself any vacation? You are human, you need one from time to time. Is a bronchitis not a flashing red light? Please don’t exploit your body for higher purposes, however justified – it is not wise.

Justin, I don’t mean to sound didactic, but have you given up your smoking habit yet? If not, could you, please, for your readers? I for one would hate to see you die prematurely- your thrice weekly column provides half my life’s entertainment (the other half, of course, coming from the actions of people in my vicinity).

Try taking a vacation. It’s ironically very productive; you come back with new ideas.

Justin,
I want to send money to anti-war.com, but I don’t have a creditcard. Is there a posibility for an IBAN account donation, in the case you live in Europe.
Btw, get well soon! We need your insights — badly. I discovered antiwar.com only a half year ago, but I’ve been it reading it daily since.

Linus Pauling was right about vitamin C, you know. And forget about “dying prematurely.” You’re not supposed to leave us in the lurch, ever.
Three to five grams (that’s right–grams) a day, most cheaply done by taking the C as powder. Bitter stuff, so take it with copious cold water.

here in new yawk, it’s ‘youse’. ‘yizz’ is non-standard (viz., jersey) dialect.

Yes, petey, in North or Central Jersey, say Sayreville or South River, it’d be more like “whatsamatta wichyizz?”. Always impressive, of course, designed specifically for audiences of more than one person and frequently including gestures of the hand, a grimace or both.
