You don’t need to defeat the US military for god’s sake. It only takes a couple hundred letters to a large cooperation threating boycott to effect policy change. In the same way, a few people fighting back per city per state etc is enough to effect change in Government.

It’s similar to polling, pollsters may only select 1500 people. From that tiny number they are able to extrapolate how millions of people feel about a given issue.

The government know that if 10,000 people are protecting themselves their families and their property with guns, another 10 million are thinking about doing the same thing.
Israel with all of their military might has not been able to stop the Palestinians from fighting back for the last 40 years. Heck, The US military is losing in Iraq against sticks and stones and home made bombs.
