That’s only true if the “enemies” are poorly armed Farmers or Bedouins, but when the “enemies” are better armed then the “targets of opportunity” may become the “crowd” you mentioned. Really the lesson learned by Hitler should not have to be re-learned.

Israel is not attacking “people who shoot rockets at them”. If they just wanted to stop the rocket attacks, they could do things like implement an antimissile system around Sderot and the few villages near enough to Gaza as to be affected. Or just evacuate them. The rockets can only be launched from an area right on the Gazan border to reach Israel, areas that can be pin pointed with ease, so why the wholesale slaughter of all of Gaza? Why bomb schools, hospitals, mosques, and UN facilities, when the technology exists to make surgical strikes? Only one answer – hate. A deep, animalistic hatred of Arabs on the part of the Zionistic Jews. The same hatred that led Israel to carpet bomb half of Lebanon with cluster bombs over the capture of a couple of Israeli soldiers. Again it was the bombing of schools, hospitals, water treatment plants, electrical generation plants, etc. – civilian targets. And destruction of areas that could not possibly be “terrorist” enclaves Destruction for the sake of destruction. A desire to destroy a whole people. Why? Again it was a deep, tribal-like hatred. The kind of hatred that allows otherwise sane people to pack a lunch and go overlook the slaughter as entertainment as was done by Israelis going out to view the destruction of Gaza.
All decent Americans should view our “special relationship” with Zionism as something that is unclean.

While I’ve never lived in the Middle East, I know that it is an Islamic tradition that even a smile or a kind word is charity. So based off that, I would think it safe to assume that smiling in most Middle Eastern countries would not be out of place.

Disclaimer: Traveled to the middle east a few times, but never lived there.
