Harry Reid: Pathetic
Scott Horton,
April 23, 2009
“I think it would be very unwise, from my perspective, to start having [torture] commissions, boards, tribunals, until we find out what the facts are.” -Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
So, I guess the question is whether the leader of the Great Imperial Senate himself is as stupid as he thinks we all are?
Update: Harry Reid defends Judge Bybee.

Does the man think facts fall from the heavens and we’ll all see the light? The very things he wants to prevent are the things that will allow the facts to be discovered and acted upon.
We’re led by morons.

I guess this is well in line with the torture in question. It’s purpose wasn’t finding the truth either, but complete humiliation and disorientation of the subjects.
Let’s just rearrange the statement for clarification: “From my perspective, i think it would be very unwise to…” Is he actually being brutally honest here? Honest, but misleading.

It seems to me not to be your typical involuntary emission of a politician’s stupid gland, but a case of accidental honesty. A momentary lapse of the awareness that normal people are not supposed to understand the basics of the political tools of “commissions, boards and tribunals” in that you first decide the conclusion and only then you allow your faithful appointees to start selecting the facts to support it. This is custom anywhere on planet Earth.
Normal people understand this fine. It’s just that we are so used to expecting politicians to uphold the charade that slight irregularities, however shortlived, in the pattern immediately stand out.

The way I read it is thus that as far as mr Reid is aware, they have not yet agreed on how exactly to bury the corpses.

Harry ” it’s a voluntary tax but if you don’t pay it you’re going to jail” Reid has never made much sense -

Anders,
That almost looks like a Saturday Night Live skit. I know it isn’t but it has the aura of one. Maybe he should visit the argument clinic:

Harry Reid’s “perspective” is very simple. What’s in it for Harry. No money to be made from “commissions, boards, or tribunals.” Nope, Reid is busy with the people’s business. You know, building PGA golf courses in the middle of nowhere. With nonexistent water and Mexican labor. It’s true. Can you say ‘Coyote Springs’?

Because democrates allowed all of these crimes to take place and approved them.
