What the hell are you talking about? In my previous post on the subject, I said "I have no side in this dispute." In fact, the name-calling directed at me has been about my reluctance to parrot the Zelaya-as-hero line. Where have I (or Justin) advocated any U.S. intervention in Honduras? Which of my writings implies "a duty, a 'burden', even, to share our superior experience and insight with all of the lesser mongrels who occupy various foreign lands"? Find one.

You and Justin seem to be under the impression that we here in America have completely perfected the art of statecraft, and thus, have no problems of our own to be concerned with. Therefore, your articles imply that we have a duty, a "burden", even, to share our superior experience and insight with all of the lesser mongrels who occupy various foreign lands. Honduras? Iran? All can learn from our great example! In short, you guys are attempting to provide an intellectual rationale for imperialism. Please stop.

The most important point is that it is not the role of the US government, supported by American tax money, to offer its opinion about the rule of law and constitutions of foreign countries. Individuals can have their opinions about Honduras (or anything else) but the US government -- which has a century-long history of intervention in Latin American -- should shut up.

Yawn... one set of tax-eating parasites is replaced by another set, with some marginal change in their propensity to unleash their Sardaukar. Sic Transit Gloria Mundi.

If humans stop letting themselves be treated as livestock, the tax-eating classes will stop treating them like livestock.

Start killing the Sardaukar where they sleep (they are only brave when in gangs, and armed). Raise the cost of being a state goon, and young would-be goons will respond to the increased risk.

Over time their political masters will have problems recruiting new spear-carriers.

Without armed goons, political parasites have no sway.

Wait - I thought it was islamo-fascists that we're scared of now. Did Big Brother change the program again? Oh dear, I think I missed the memo.

Blitzer's a dang nit. As for Honduras, it would seem that the dang Hondurans just ain't happy less'n they's under some dang junta. America ain't the 'globo-cop'!

I find it amazing how many people can absorb the history, geography and political situation of so many obscure locations on the globe as to comment instantaneously, it seems, to every crisis that arises. Georgia, Pakistan, Iran and now Honduras are discussed in detail, disected and recommendations made before most of us can locate the place on a map. I believe if Inner Mongolia were to have a disputed mayoral contest, Wolf Blitzer would be doing a remote broadcast from there and CNN and FOX would probably pick different sides to promote. How wonderful is our concentration upon obscure problems outside our country. But, for a known situation like Israel's occupation/slaughter of Palestine that has gone on for the last 60 years, no-one in the media seems to notice anything unusual. Seizure of a ex US Congresswoman ferrying medicine and food to relieve a genocidal assault must not be newsworthy.
