While most of the attention in yesterday’s UN speeches was centered around the US delegation’s faux-impromptu walkout on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s talk, President Barack Obama’s own talk had a notably absent delegation, the Israeli one.
Officially the Israeli government denies that this was an organized boycott and insists the absence of their delegation was planned well in advance, and was related to the relatively minor Jewish holiday of Sukkot. The weeklong holiday does not appear to have traditionally meant Israeli officially snubbing major international events, however.
Moreover President Obama’s speech sparked no small level of outrage among top Israeli officials, and a number of Israel’s ruling coalition MPs made public comments in condemnation of the president and the speech late last night. This is only adding fuel to the belief by many that the snub was about the speech and not the holiday.
AIPAC spokesmen angrily denied this belief, however, and insisted that it was a “malicious” lie against Israel. The empty chairs seem to remain an issue for many, however.
That settles it then. AIPAC says it was an "outrageous lie." Must have been Sukkot, mustn't it?

Okay, I have to ask why the UN felt compelled to hold the speech on a Jewish holiday. Seems like a slap in the face to Israeli Jews. Imagine if they held it on a Muslim holiday. It's not a minor holiday at all. It's one of the half dozen "chagim,"–that is, holidays on which work is prohibited. Not "the week" but the first two days. Israeli consulates are closed all over the world, and diplomats aren't working. But nice job looking for Jewish conspiracy, assholes.
I did notice that the holiday did not stop one of the talking heads of the Israel government on making a major statement the Obama is something not good for the nation of Israel. It is amazing that the talking head would comment on the matter since the holiday was still going on.
If anyone believes that it was anything but a boycott then I suspect they accept that the USS Liberty was a rescue mission to save our sailors from being attacked by jelly fish.
The fact that the Prime Minister of Israel is openly working to get the greatest traitor in the US History aka Pollard free tells the real feeling that Israel has toward those the provide billions and billions for a maybe 5 million of the correct religion in that nation.
We have gotten along till 1913 avoiding church and religion. I believe it is time to cut Israel free and us the money paid to keep the rich nation of Israel living so weel and use the money for our veterans who actually did the fighting in the wars stated by Israel.
Their position on Pollard tells you all you need to know about their feelings toward the US. Tack on the USS Liberty, and the actual Pollard case itself (Israel selling our nuclear secrets to the USSR during the Cold War) and you can see that they hold us in nothing but contempt.

Besides, to say the Israelis have been engaging in ethnic cleansing since 1948 is an extremely ignorant statement. It shows that you have very little accurate knowledge as to the history of Israel/Palestine and its inhabitants. Simply put, Israel has not been engaging in ethnic cleansing since 1948.
