Aid Groups Find Evidence of Widespread Torture in Libya: Aid groups in Libya found evidence that detainees had suffered cigarette burns, heavy bruising, bone fractures, tissue burns from electric shocks, and renal failure from beatings. Several prisoners have been killed while in custody.

GCC Nations to Withdraw Monitors, Push for U.N. Intervention Against Syria: The Arab League member nations from the Gulf Cooperation Council have announced they are withdrawing all monitors from Syria and shifting their focus to pressing the United Nations Security Council for intervention against the Assad regime.

Israeli Finance Minister Pushes Naval, Aerial Blockade of Iran: Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz rejected the European Union’s ban on importation of Iranian crude oil, insisting it doesn’t go nearly far enough and arguing for the international community to impose a full naval and aerial blockade across all of Iran so that "no one can even go out."

U.S. Warns Iraq: "Don’t Blow This Opportunity": After Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s sharp turn toward dictatorship, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned the government to "act like a democracy."

  1. I made my first visit to the National Portrait Gallery last week, and very much enjoyed the Amelia exhibit as well as many other portraits in the gallery. I've just toured the online One Life exhibit and that was very well done as well. Thanks to all who made it possible!
