We’re Taking on the Most Powerful Lobby in Washington – And We’re Winning

There are no sacred cows as far as Antiwar.com is concerned – and that includes the Israel lobby.

Since our inception, we’ve exposed the pernicious role of foreign lobbyists in distorting American policy overseas to suit their own ends – because somebody had to do it. During the Kosovo war we revealed the machinations of the Albanian lobby. In the run-up to war with Iraq we exposed the role of the Iraqi exile organizations – and also the central role played by Israel’s lobby in the US, which, more recently, has been the key player in the campaign to confront Iran.

Sure, it was controversial. Yet that didn’t stop Antiwar.com from speaking truth to power and letting the chips fall where they may.

We knew the issue would eventually have to come up for public discussion – because the power of the Israel lobby over the making of US foreign policy had to be reckoned with, sooner or later.

Well, it wasn’t sooner, but better late than never.

Now – at last! – informed opinion is catching up to Antiwar.com. The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy, a pathbreaking book by John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, has broken the dam, and pointed critiques of the most powerful lobby in Washington are breaking out all over. Here, for example, is Joe Klein, columnist for Time magazine; here is Matt Yglesias, well-known blogger and policy analyst; here is Philip Weiss, a talented journalist and author – all saying what we’ve been saying here at Antiwar.com since long before the outbreak of the Iraq war.

The chorus of voices decrying the Israel lobby’s inordinate influence over policymaking is growing. But we can’t continue the fight to take back our foreign policy without your help.

We don’t have a multi-million dollar budget, like the Israel lobby does, but we don’t need that. All we need is the bare bones budget we’ve been running on since 1995, just enough fuel to keep the lean, mean counter-propaganda machine that is Antiwar.com going. Yet we can’t keep going without your support. Help us kick the foreign lobbyists out of the councils of power – give as much as you can as soon as you can. Don’t delay, contribute today.

Sorry for the interruption.
