After all, we'll soon be rid of the worst administration in living memory. The most warlike, unreasonable, and dangerous president ever is going to be leaving office, and that is quite a relief.

But let's not rest on our laurels. The War Party may be down, but they're very far from out. They have a lot to be thankful for, too, unfortunately – they've got Hillary Clinton in as the new secretary of state and a whole platoon of warbots waiting in the wings to bore into the national security bureaucracy and find where they can do the most damage.

We've staved off the worst, which would have been four more years of the Bush Doctrine. Now we've got to consolidate our gains, man the ramparts, and guard against a continuation of the relentless aggression of recent years.

What we need, more than ever, is this Web site. We need to maintain it, expand it, and ensure that it stays around. And there's only one way to do that: by contributing to our winter fundraising drive. Because we still haven't made our goal!

As incredible as it may seem, it's been over two weeks since we started bugging you on a daily basis, and we're still not over the top. C'mon, you know you're gonna need us, you know we're essential, you know you should give something – and now is the time to give.

The masters of war never have to worry about where their next check is coming from: they have your tax dollars at their disposal. We, on the other hand, must depend on the generosity and commitment of our readers. They have the U.S. Treasury; we have only you. So please, step up to the plate and send us some holiday cheer.

Sorry for the interruption.
