Quarterly Fund Drive

The War Party Is Gloating…

Because we might not make it

The War Party is happy – and not just because they're still in the saddle, plotting new wars and keeping old conflicts percolating. Because, you see, they don't have much organized opposition, which makes their job a whole lot easier. They're especially jazzed that Antiwar.com has yet to make its fundraising goal, and, if this pledge drive doesn't pick up soon, the warmongers will shriek with joy.

For over a decade, we've stood on the ramparts warning of approaching crises. We said the Iraq war was bound to be a disaster, and history has proved us right. We predicted the conflict in South Ossetia and editorialized against the Cold War hysteria now being whipped up by the usual suspects. In short: we've been on the War Party's case for years, and they'd love to see us gone for good – and they just may get their wish…

Times are hard, and our contributors don't have very deep pockets. They're ordinary people, concerned individuals just like yourself, yet now we must ask them once again to help keep us afloat.

It's kind of funny how all the most prominent warmongers have not suffered one little bit because their predictions of a "cakewalk" in Iraq were so wrong. Indeed, they've prospered: for instance, Bill Kristol, neocon kingpin, now has a weekly column in the New York Times. Go here for an account of how his fellow neocons have gotten rich by being so off the mark. We were right all along, but being right isn't everything, because here we are again, hands outstretched, asking for your contribution so we can keep the lights on.

It doesn't take much. Our average contribution is $50. Yes, we know times are tough, but if you can just reach deep and manage a contribution, no matter how small, it will make a difference. Just think of all the contemptible people who would be happy to see us go down – and if that doesn't motivate you to donate, we don't know what will.

Don't give the War Party another reason to gloat – make your contribution today!

Sorry for the interruption.
