Conspiracy theories

The Nation and David Corn attempted to debunk some of the theories regarding September 11th. And did they get a response. There are a few theories that went unspoken.

Kashmir: An al-Qaeda distraction?

In a supposed attempt to shift the focus away from the Afghan-Pakistan border, some suspect Bin Laden is involved in the tensions between India and its neighbor. An effort to weaken the current regime or the continuation of a decade long conflict?

How 'we' got to be so hated

One participant of this event writes that "we ourselves have become the largest rogue state of all." A threes-company of Robert Higgs, Gore Vidal and Dinesh D'Souza make the important distinction between disgust of government and that of the nation. The ambiguity involved can lead to strange outcomes.

Who declares war?

Of all the talk about invading Iraq, little consideration is made for consulting the Constitution. Beyond that dilemna, we must remember the practical problems and interests involved when going to war.

'An American Stasi'

Great comparison between the East Germans and the current American regime. It is best quoted: "The banner in the eagle’s mouth on the back of the Great Seal of the United States might as well change from reading “E Pluribus Unum” to “The innocent have nothing to fear.”

Enemy combatant

Perhaps being an American citizen no longer matters. Perhaps we are no longer a democratic republic. Perhaps, perhaps perhaps.

Colin Powell in 2008. . .

Any political science class teaches that something in politics doesn't happen without a reason. Here, the idea of a Vice-president Powell logically leads to the above headline.

The General Jack D. Ripper comet

Let's hope there is no automatic firing system set up in any nuclear nation of the world. Films can be a blessing to any trigger happy war hawk.

"A mouse can be just as dangerous as a bullet or a bomb."

. . . says Lamar Smith, R-Tex. Hackers beware. This can only lead to a further encroachment upon civil liberties given legitimacy by the fear the government has instilled into the American public. Some are fighting back.

Fiji and the FBI

The law enforcement agencies deserve a much needed rest from ignoring civil liberties. Pray the sun doesn't get in their eyes while they peer through personal belongings of innocents.
