The naive lead the blind

Ok, I may only be 21, but I have lived across two centuries and, well, I read books occasionally. Therefore I can accuse Sara Fritz of well... read for yourself:

President Bush would never dare to take our nation to war without a persuasive justification and broad national support.

Yeah, and John Ashcroft would never dare ignore the Constitution he is sworn to protect. Maybe wisdom doesn't come with age.

Who in 2004?

It is understandable that the cynic believes a war with Iraq is a means for George Bush to get reelected in 2004. Yet history had shown this plan rarely works, and even if it doesn't our options are still limited to tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum.

Insert "State", "liberty"

What can't be "derived from the president's power as commander in chief"? Labeling Americans as enemy combatants is one supposed power. That reminds me, war is the health of the _____and the detriment to _____?

Projecting empire

Sometimes it is frightening what you can find in the middle of an op-ed:

...the U.S. would acquire a permanent military presence in Afghanistan and turn it into a base for projecting power in Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.

Since when do democratic republics "project power?" Oh yeah, since we are fighting a method (terrorism), a religion (Islam), and "evil."

Office of Global Propaganda

This is a new project of the Bush administration that is attempting to spread the good word that is America. Max Castro has uncovered its real intention: to stop people"from detesting the policies of the current U.S. government." Well, maybe a change in policy would alleviate all problems.

Surprise!

Brian Foley has some surprises for the US government about the war in Iraq
:

Surprise! The war will not defeat terrorism...
Surprise! The war will increase the danger of terrorism...
Surprise! Civilian casualties and mass slaughter...
Surprise! Refugees and starvation...
Surprise! Destruction, disorder, and yet more death...
Surprise! "Conflict contagion..."
Surprise! The war will not "spread democracy..."
Surprise! International criticism...
Surprise! Americans will be forced to tighten their belts...

Surprise! The Bush administration doesn't care!
