More targets for the neocons

Saudi Arabia is continuing to defy US government demands (good for them!):

The first Saudi Arabian trade fair to be held in Iraq since the 1991 Gulf War will open here[Baghdad] on Sept. 9 for five days...

Horowitz, Kristol, etc will have even more target for their war. To top it off, Turkey has also agreed to an economic pact with Iraq, similar to the recent Russian agreement:

Iraq and Turkey plan to sign a wide-ranging trade and economic co-operation pact...

Ritalin for Rumsfeld

Charley Reese portrays Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld as a man with a rash in a tough spot:

The American people should not allow an arrogant man, irritated by the restraints of international law and the Constitution, to put our soldiers in such a position.

Perhaps a little Preperation H will ameliorate Rumsfeld's irritation. That, or maybe a refresher in Constitutional law, International Relations and reminder that American lives are at stake.

The rule of law according to Bush

Why can't Ron Paul be my congressman? Given that I currently reside in the state of my least favorite man, John Ashcroft (AKA: "Undoer of Constitution"), I "deserve" him even more. Nonetheless, it will suffice to read Paul's wise words:

...if we blatantly violate the Constitution by pursuing an undeclared war, we violate the rule of law. We invite the President, and future Presidents, to act in an imperial manner.

If you build it, oil will come

Signaling a policy shift, the Bush administration has said that the US will now aid in the "rebuilding" of Afghanistan. I wonder what they will build first... a pipeline? That begs the question, "Who will build it?" Cheney Inc. perhaps? Getting all the nasty, sticky and plentiful oil out of the way of the starving refugees would really go a long way to helping shareholders, oops, I mean Afghanistan.

Alleviate your boredom...with war

Fox News, according to Jude Wanniski, is the War Network. Why, you ask? Well, ratings keep networks alive and bombs dropping and people dying is a surefire way to get people tuned in. As Jude puts it:

Peace is boring.

Well if that is the case, then bore me to death.

Full discretion to steal

Boeing and Lockheed Martin were given a green light by the DOD to spend $1 billion of your money. Called the "silent partner" program, this agreement allows the two companies to spend without reporting or oversight. Supposedly this is a moneysaving device, to aid the taxpayers who are funding it.... A more fitting name for such a program is the "corporate subsidization partner."
