Posted May 25, 2001 Wake Up [Regarding Justin Raimondo's column, "The Myth of Pearl Harbor":] I'm writing to give you a different perspective. [Justin Raimondo] wrote:
The intended moral of it all was summed up in Newsweek by James Wire, an 82 year-old Pearl Harbor survivor, who thinks the Pearl Harbor movie is "'great' because it's a warning: 'Americans have become complacent. They think it can't happen now. But it can." A state of advanced paranoia is the natural condition of every Empire: it is the price we pay for our imperial preeminence, "a curious and characteristic emotional weakness of Empire," as Garet Garrett put it, which amounts to "a complex of vaunting and fear." James is right. Government will continue to lie, obfuscate, cover-up and kill us with impunity unless we wake up. ~ Mark Seiler, Bessemer City, NC
Chinese Are Not Anti-American I read Mr. Matuszak's article "An American in China" with interest, as I am also an American living and teaching in China. I arrived in China at the end of March, right before the "spy-plane" imbroglio. My family and friends in America all called and emailed me with worry regarding my safety in China. I encountered no anti-American sentiment and when the topic came up, my Chinese colleagues and friends and I all agreed that governments are not the people. I also strongly disagree with Bush's stance and Cold War posturing, and do not hesitate to tell people that. After finishing Mr. Matuszak's article, I emailed it to my friends and family at home…

Racism Caused Pearl Harbor "Surprise" …"Why Lie about Pearl Harbor?" by Justin Raimondo is a perceptive and scathing analysis of how history is falsified and turned into a shared myth. The racism inherent in the US-Japanese conflict is a salient feature ignored by Hollywood and our controlled media. …Kimmel et al. could not envision in their racist minds that yellow Asian inferiors could even conceive of such a surprise attack! The US leaders misread the evidence of an attack because racism blinded them to it. How could Asians think to attack a US naval base?! That is something only white people do! …This racist mindset was guiding US leaders and explains the "pretty much total surprise" that resulted. This racism inherent in the debacle is usually deleted out for political correctness by the media. …Pearl Harbor was one of the greatest military victories in history, surpassing Hannibal's surprise of the Roman armies. How could those Asians do that? How dare they not conform to our racist stereotypes? … ~ Carl K. Savich, Serbianna.com |
