Beacon of Hope

I am writing in regard to the February 22 "Backtalk" letter written about Antiwar.com by Nancy L. entitled "Preaching to the Choir." While it is true that many people reading this site already agree with most of the opinions posted on it, there are many people out there who also do not, or haven't even considered the opinions or had access to much of the information provided. I have recommended this site to many of my online and offline friends and afterward they have thanked me and stated their surprise at some of the information provided and said it had answered many of the questions and doubts they had about our latest military and political adventures. This is a most valuable service to our nation and our liberty. Antiwar.com is a beacon of hope and liberty in the darkness and sometimes outright insanity that is the reality our government treats us to daily. I have put a link to Antiwar.com on my website, along with a few others of a similar vein and links to overseas news services. Since then many people have thanked me for the information and modified their views, sometimes radically. As long as Antiwar.com keeps up its excellent work in providing truth and facts, and opinions backed up by them, the aforementioned "choir" will continue to grow. That is the way to really change things. It rarely happens overnight, as the Vietnam experience demonstrated. It takes patience and fortitude, and above all having the truth on one's side.

Ransom

As the USA talks of paying money for the release of hostages, the American people need to realize that our war against terror is entering phase 2 of warfare between the expanding empire and the homegrown terrorists. The Russian war against Chechnya worked exactly like this. Chechnya wanted its independence, Russia attacked Chechnya, but could not eliminate its terrorists and lost control. Russia, without finalizing an independence agreement appeared to allow Chechnya local control. But, the terrorists were not satisfied. They took hostages by the hundreds including Norwegians, Swedes, Brits, and Aussies. Putin took over, and started War #2 against the terrorists.

We began with an easy victory in Afghanistan. Now there will be an attempt to rebuild Afghanistan. That will bring many well-meaning Westerners into Afghanistan. ...For those who hate Western domination and influence in their region, they will be seen as money in the bank, when they capture one, demand a ransom, and then either quickly get the money or execute the victim and move on to the next target. We will, in time, undoubtedly be reading about an American soldier that somehow got kidnapped in a lull, and his kidnappers will demand money, and then his body will be found. Are we really in it for the long haul, or do we want to acknowledge that America's only true military commitment is the protection of actual American territory, and not some Global order to satisfy Congressional, Presidential, and media nerds wanting to control the world?

The Nation State and War

Having read the many and varied articles on your website for more than a year now I still find myself in a state of some confusion. What is the editorial stance? Are you in favour of the nation state? If so you must recognise that the nation state and war are part and parcel. If not in favour then please say so.

Truth

[Regarding Justin Raimondo's column of February 22, "Anthrax Cover-Up?":]

Your story . . . is both brilliantly written and mind blowing. I intend to refer to it prolifically in an upcoming column on www.toogoodreports.com. Thanks so much. It's so hard to find the truth in this world.

Sacked

Why were the Admiral and General in charge at Pearl Harbor sacked and not the head of the FBI and CIA after 9-11?

Access

With consistency, you have done what few other publications do! You provide access to basic documents not readily available to the reading public. This is indispensable to learning the facts relating the subjects of your reports. Antiwar.com not only elucidates, it provides the interested reader with the opportunity to examine essential facts for himself/herself.

It is really quite astounding how mainstream media provides exquisite detail of mundane, essentially inconsequential, events but fails completely to inform its audience regarding concerns of substantive, far-reaching consequence.
