Posted April 8, 2002 Keep Writing I just felt compelled to let you know how much I enjoy all [of Justin Raimondo's] ... articles, especially ... "The Real Anti-Semitism." Your article, in my opinion, was very accurate and truthful. In days like these when the truth is often trampled on, chewed up and spit out, it is most refreshing (and brave) when someone can stand up and say what is really happening. I've sent many of your articles to friends and family and they have enjoyed them as well so please keep writing. Last Reason for Intervention You guys are doing a tremendous job right now, and if I had any kind of money whatsoever some would come your way. Sounds hollow but it's true. You guys are ten times better than any "news"paper. However, I'll keep pestering you (because I don't know who else to ask) to address the role oil plays in our country's decisions. Are we interested in the Middle East/Balkans/Central Asia primarily because of the oil? Would we have anything to put in our cars if we left those places and came home? Once I persuade anybody that there's no reason to be meddling in other countries, the last reason I get for intervention is "oil," and I don't know how to answer. "They'd take it away from us if we didn't enforce our presence there, and the economy would grind to a halt." Is that a valid concern? Why or why not? Terrible Events I ... am sickened as I watch the terrible events unfolding on the television screen. I can tell you that I feel guilty to be sitting in my comfortable living room while Palestinian people and their country is being systematically destroyed. Yes, I have seen the Palestinian boys (children really) using stones to combat tanks. You're darn right I'm ashamed to see American helicopters, etc. being used against these people. Thanks to the policy of the U.S. government, I am robbed of knowing these wonderful people and learning about their culture. No wonder Americans are fiercely disliked. I hope they know that not all of us support the US government's decisions. In fact, I hate them and I'm not very proud to be an American right now. Please keep trying to reach more people and educate them. I do what I can in my own small community on a one-to-one basis. I am sending a small amount of money to the cause and wish it was more; but, I'm a retired widow. Double Standard Let me get this straight: If you are a NATO, U.N. or just a plain simple US client you are free to break just about any international law there is? (UN Resolutions included?) A very interesting double standard unfolding right before our very eyes on the TV screen daily. If it were Milosevic with his Serbian forces surrounding, assassinating, depriving basics such as water, food, medical recourses, etc., you could bet that the "Allied" forces would be launching strikes to limit and destroy "offensive forces" with full backing of the totally controlled media as well. Those "monsters" that unleashed those heinous crimes in the US helped unleashed scores of other "monsters" that are committing innumerable crimes against innocent peoples that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. (This including suicidal monstrous bombers as well!) I would just like to add that I truly hope that someday peoples of all races and religion can live in peace, it's about time. Thank you for your site, I recommend it to everyone. Keep up the good work and fight the good fight the fight for the truth! Suggestion You have a great site. I'm glad you are doing this work. I have a suggestion. I was at rally, in Paris in front of the Montparnasse train station yesterday, April 3rd, to protest the actions of the Israeli military in Palestine. It struck me when I was there that what is strong about a protest, is seeing real people, seeing their faces, all together in one spot the sense of real humans coming together for this purpose. For example, towards the end of the protest, this allowed many small discussions break out. Little groups of people that would chat, catch up, exchange information and viewpoints, ask why they weren't at the last protest, etc. This must have been incredibly powerful back when television, telephone, internet, cable, radio, etc. didn't exist. So much information would be flowing in one spot. Today however, such a protest provides very minimal flow of information between people compared to the amount that flows daily through new technologies. So here
is my suggestion. To keep up with modern technology, what would be great
is a site where people could "join" the movement by submitting
a small statement with the following information: "My name is [name], I live in [town, state, country]. I support this movement. I am against war in all its forms, and I will back this belief with my money and my votes." And including a picture, if possible. This way, a visitor to your site, would be able to see how big the support behind the movement is. And not only through numbers, but to physically get a sense of the real human beings coming together around this opinion. The advantage to people who join, would be that it is a novel way of supporting that opinion. Supporting the movement through money is alright, but that only goes so far. It is not very satisfying. You don't personally involve yourself. I think people would welcome this way of participating non-monetarily. Recent Trend I hate to see this web site which kept me informed during the bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO turn into an anti-Israel web site but that's exactly what has happened. You have no criticism for the surrounding rich and undemocratic Arab countries where just being of a different religion is a death sentence. It's them who condemned the Palestinians to living in "refugee camps" for the last 50 years without any hope for a better life. I am really quite disappointed at your web site's recent trend. Refuting Intellectual Midgets Just wanted to say you're among my favourite sites. Keep the faith. Please ask Justin not to spend so much time refuting intellectual midgets. I love midget tossing but he is better than that. His work is among the best I have seen. It's funny, witty, informative, sometimes downright hilarious. He doesn't need to waste his breathe with two digit IQs. ~ Kahless M. |
