Petition

The link above will take you to a petition sponsored by Americans Against War for Profit. Please read, sign (or not), and pass it on if you see fit to do so.

Managing Editor Eric Garris replies:

Are you for non-profit war? I support Peace for Profit, best of both worlds.

Unfenced

I'm indebted to you, Ran, for clarifying a suspicion I had had. The Green Line dividing Israel from the West Bank is totally unfenced! I wondered how the Palestinian attackers got from Jenin to Netanya, Haifa, etc.

This is the rape of military science by politics. A fence -- what a concept! I bet Arafat's people would even help build one -- or at least build a fence on their side too.

How many more Israelis will die to maintain the fantasy of Eretz Israel? How long will "spray and pray" IDF counterattacks be considered a form of defense? As long as Americans and Israelis remain militarily ignorant, I guess.

~ Tikhon Gilson

$475,000,000,000

Thanks for the site, it has really expanded my mind about human nature and world politics. Looking at the war clock, 475 billion? That could buy a cure for cancer and aids, put a man on mars, build a decent car that runs on hydrogen, end world hunger and illiteracy couldn't it? Are anti-war people anti-American? I don't think so, looks to me like that's the war mongering psychos job. To have perfect peace for America it doesn't have to spend money, all it has to do is be respectful and fair in world politics, what a novel idea! It doesn't even have to admit guilt, just subtly and slowly change its policies to sane ones.

Armageddon

[Regarding Justin Raimondo's column of April 12, "American Likudniks":]

"After all, wouldn't that fulfill the ancient biblical prophecies of 'Armageddon' and confirm the theological hallucinations of messianists, both Christian and Jew?"

No.

Armageddon will be a land war, in the valley called "Armageddon". It will feature the 200 million-man army of Magog, marching in from the East.

Sorry. I'm libertarian now, but was raised a "Christian fundamentalist nutball".

~ Clancy D., Japan

Sane People in Washington

It is hard to believe that there are still some sane people in Washington. I am referring to Ron Paul and his article about American foreign policy.

~ Sig B., Mexico

News about Venezuela

I am extremely disappointed by your failure to cover the events leading up to the coup in Venezuela. For several weeks now, it seems, all of your top headlines have been on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, Afghanistan, or Milosevic. Many people such as myself rely on your coverage to keep apace of world events. It has been extremely difficult to find reliable news about Venezuela and other regions of the world. Please make room for more balanced coverage.

~ AD, Connecticut

Managing Editor Eric Garris replies:

We have carried a few articles on it, but we would be grateful for any articles you could send links to. We rely on volunteer researchers and it would be great to get assistance in this area.

TV Appearances

One of the main reasons Americans are so uninformed is because they (we) are much to lazy to do any investigating. Most people who are willing to put the effort into looking for and reading sites such as yours and Ali Abunimah's Bitter Pill already agree with you (or at least have a very open mind and a bit of time on their hands). You can't expect a typical American couch potato to put forth that much effort. You need to make some appearances on TV. Ali Abunimah presented a well-spoken alternate view on Fox News earlier. Unfortunately, most alternate views on TV come from people with a poor grasp of American PR, American logic, and worse English (I think the news programs do that on purpose to reinforce their point). The folks there at Antiwar would do well to educate those too lazy to get off the couch. It would give some excellent advertising as well.

If you could post the e-mail addresses of CNN, Fox, MSNBC, I'm sure many people would be willing to e-mail them with a suggestion that they include one of you in their "hot seats." If you put a permanent link with all of them in the "To:" line, I'd even be willing to send them an e-mail a couple times a week.
