Posted June 29, 2002 October Surprise [Regarding Justin Raimondo's column, "Amen to That!":] ...You bring up a very interesting point about Sharon blackmailing Bush. It has crossed my mind many times that Sharon may indeed be doing that very thing. Bush pere was guilty as sin in the October Surprise business (trust me on this) and the Israelis were intimately involved in all of that, and beyond a shadow of a doubt have documentary proof. ... Dose of Reason Read today's Lew Rockwell column via your link, and I'm overwhelmed at his having put the whole thing into one piece and expressing it so clearly. I read an earlier column at Antiwar.com, by another author whose name escapes me just now, who nailed the situation pretty well, too, but then blamed everything that's wrong with America on the sixties and the baby boomers and expressed doubt that the country would survive it. I was really surprised that someone who had such a fine grasp of things in one area could totally miss the point of the sixties movement which was generally and finally antiwar. But then, too, I read Ayn Rand's Apollo and Dionysis with equal disbelief. You mean Nixon and Agnew and Daley, etc., were all right? And we were wrong? I, like Rockwell, was heartened some years back, talking to a friend who'd recently attended the University of Indiana during the Gulf War, when he told me about the sincerity and commitment of students there opposing it, including himself. In fact, I still run into encouraging numbers of young people who see things the way they are. Anyway, thanks again for the dose of reason. ~ John McGill, East Glacier Park, Montana Conspiracy Theory If I was a 'conspiracy theory' buff I might be thinking that President Bush's latest prescription for solving the Israeli / Palestinian problem that Arafat and the rest of the PA political leadership be booted out and replaced by an 'interim' government acceptable to Sharon, (read as a big "f**k you" by the Palestinians) was deliberately meant to provoke another big terrorist attack against this country, which in turn would be used to justify even more money being thrown at the DoD, even fewer civil liberties for Americans, etc. Because only a lunatic could believe our leaders would try to egg on another big terrorist attack, I have to accept that our leaders are well-meaning (but maybe a little biased in favor of Israel). If another big terrorist attack comes, it would have happened anyway. Right? 'Logical' Thread [Regarding Justin Raimondo's column, "Baba Wawa's Whitewash":] "....[T]hose lost little Israelis were just having some good clean fun that day, protecting Israel against terrorism (in New Jersey!)." Gee, that's kind'a like protecting the United States against terrorism (in Afghanistan!). Sounds like the same "logical" thread to me. Seriously, if these guys were really "celebrating" the WTC crash, they should have had their heads handed to them. Obviously, if there were any more sinister revelations uncovered, they never would have made it home. Cogent Analysis Just a note to say how impressed I am with Mr Raimondo's brave analysis ("Baba Wawa's Whitewash," and much else) of the Israeli Spies mystery and the real possibility, given the indications, of deliberate internal sabotage of pre 9-11 information gathering within the FBI. If Mossad moles within the FBI have obstructed pre- 9-11 information gathering then this would be the greatest backstabbing treachery in the history of the world. I post links to Mr Raimondo's site often and to forums of international appeal. I would have all fellow Americans aware of Mr Raimondo's analysis so they can resist the constant brainwashing to the effect that Israel is friend to America. I'm sure many hope Mr Raimondo ignores his hatemail and continues to bravely stay on this most important story. This is an extremely hot potato nobody else seems willing to touch; who else is giving such cogent analysis? Personnel Problems What do you make of spies jumping with joy in response to the WTC attack? I mean, come on, spies are suppose to keep a low profile, and these spies were carrying incriminating evidence in the same van they are celebrating from? They are worse than the Israeli art student spies. It would seem the US intelligence network is not the only one with personnel problems. Outlook of the 'Antiwar Right' ...I frequent the Antiwar.com site, and have done so for several years. Mainly, I read the articles that you link to, though I do also read what Raimondo, Malic, etc. have to say. I will be honest I am strongly inclined towards Trotskyism, though I do have an open mind towards other viewpoints. Obviously, all of your columnists are well to the right of me, but on many occasions, they (especially Mr. Malic) have produced fairly insightful articles. I must say that the latest speech by Bush in which he outlined Washington's continued, unswerving support for the Israeli government was completely unsurprising to me. The Israeli regime has always functioned as a client for Washington, which uses the Zionist state not to protect Jews, but as a proxy force, as a staging ground for the projection of American influence in the oil-rich Middle-East. Raimondo's thesis that the Bush administration is bound to fundamentally conflict with the Sharon regime has been exposed as totally incorrect. To be sure, there are occasional tactical differences between the two governments, but, on all essential strategic questions, Israel will always obey its patron and master and Washington. In short, all the events since September 11 have confirmed to me the basic incoherence and falsity of the outlook of the "antiwar right." You ... argued that Bush, in his zeal to commence the military initiative in Afghanistan, was basically an ethical guy whose only concern was to curb international terrorism. This is ludicrous. Bush, before his selection by the right-wing Supreme Court, picked as his running mate Dick Cheney, a hard-core hawk and oil baron if there ever was one. Raimondo's latest argument that Israel knew about 9-11 and let it happen is still more rubbish. This seemingly radical view actually serves as a cover for the current administration, who, it is now being revealed, had formulated a plan on Bush's desk on September 9 to attack Al Qaeda and their state-supporters, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. The Israeli regime ... actually warned the US government, in the months leading up to 9-11, about terrorist attacks involving the hijacking of planes by Al Qaeda. ...The weight of the available evidence suggests that Bush and his coterie knew about 9-11 in advance, and ordered a security standdown all the better to give the crisis-ridden administration the opportunity to crack down on all dissent at home, and to establish its supremacy in oil-rich central Asia. ... ~ A.W. |
