Posted August 31, 2001 Crippled Eagles Raimondo's latest [column, "Kosovo Replay,"] certainly grabbed me where I live. Another free country minding their own business, is about to go down because Americans have turned their backs on rule of law, and forsaken freedom and high ideals of the founders. Twenty years, I went and fought for the people of Rhodesia against a brutal enemy. I always remember the lady who told me near the end of the war, "Don't leave yet we need you." I was fighting for her. But America and Britain backed the communists, in collusion with Red China and the Soviet Union. Nobody ever said why those four countries would band together to destroy a small and charming place like Rhodesia. It was heartbreaking to see and experience, and it was perplexing because this was during the heart of the Cold War. We were defeated of course, and that country has since descended into chaos and anarchy. One country down. Then Kosovo, about which I prayed daily that our airplanes would not fly, and that at least one of our airman would refuse to take part in the terror bomber raids against Christian civilians in support of bestial murderers. None refused. They killed whomever the government asked them to kill and asked no questions. I did not support the Serbs because I liked Milosovic or communism nor did I always like their actions. But I had a pretty good idea that killing them was the wrong thing to do. It was frankly, murder. It was also armed aggression in violation of international law. And it was treason. Using our armed forces in that way can be called nothing else. It is happening again, in Macedonia. And again, nobody has really said why this country must be destroyed. The criminal usurpers in the Western governments have deemed that it must be so, and that is supposed to be enough for us. There is such a thing as "corporate guilt". We, the Americans and British, made that determination after World War II.. The Bible is full of that. Think Ninevah. Can we long survive as a nation if we commit wanton murder and support the worst miserable murdering scum that can be found on the planet? Do we deserve to survive as a nation? That is a fair question. In Rhodesia, the American volunteers were called "Crippled Eagles" and we believed then, and now, that we were fighting for America's honor, and this at a time when sadly that word had already fallen into disuse. Are there any more "Crippled Eagles" ought there? Are there any Americans (or Brits!) who will stand for honor instead of serving as soulless mercenaries at the behest of a despotic and murderous Government? Well, are there?! Death Comes Flying In the event that your readers have not had a chance to see the Fall, 2001 issue of Harper's magazine, I would recommend that they visit their local libraries and read "Death Comes Flying" an excerpt from Sven Lindqvist's A History of Bombing. Mr. Lindqvist provides an interesting sketch of the development of aerial bombardment. "Civilized" countries using air power to punish and subdue "barbarians" is nothing new. Nor is the rationale that "they," be they Vietnamese or Iraqis or Serbs, don't cherish human life the way we westerners do, so we have to kill them in huge numbers in order to get them to see the beauty of our ideas about constitutional government, human rights, etc. Macedonia, USA [Regarding Justin Raimondo's column of August 27, "Kosovo Replay":] I just finished reading the news and your column about Macedonia. Yes, it's a charade, and NATO will wind up supervising the de facto partition of the country. I think the Slavs are right: the establishment of Greater Albania is a covert objective of US foreign policy. The good news is that NATO is wearing out its welcome in Europe and will eventually be asked to pick up its toys and go home. If you'd like to get a first hand look at what things are like in Macedonia, you may not need to go overseas. A sinister development is taking place right here at home, and it is under most people's radar. I refer to the Conservation and Reinvestment Act, which has already passed the House and may well pass the Senate if nothing is done. CARA is spun as an environmental protection initiative, but that is not really what it does. The bill creates a huge slush fund for the acquisition of land by federal and state governments, and it gives government virtually unlimited power to condemn private property. Here's how it works: if you own property next to a national park, biosphere reserve or any other government property, the government can condemn your land to add to its holding. You will be forced to give it to them at a price of their choosing. If this bill passes, private ownership of land is doomed in the USA. Ranchers in New Mexico have been explicitly told that the government intends to take their land. You can be sure that Archer Daniels Midland and Laurance Rockefeller have nothing to worry about, however. The environmental lobbies are for CARA because their organizations are paid off under this bill. This is our money, remember. Individual landowners farmers, ranchers and retirees are the backbone of American conservative sentiment. This is the last reservoir of traditional values, respect for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. CARA is a carefully crafted legal tool designed to destroy this part of the electorate. The bill is blamed on environmentalists, but they are just window dressing. The real culprits are mainstream politicians in DC, who are tired of being nagged about the Constitution and fed up with complaints about the increasing size and cost of government. If these pesky landowners can be made to disappear, it will just make their day. If CARA passes, we will see federal agents using deadly force against ranchers who refuse to leave their homes. This is unacceptable to me as an American citizen, and as a human being. There's still time to raise enough commotion about CARA to force its defeat in the Senate. A Great Pacifist Well done, guys. I found [Antiwar.com] through www.moreover.com which I use every day. I'm from Macedonia. I work in London for an international investment company and I'm a great pacifist. On few occasions when visiting moreover.com I've read some articles from Antiwar.com, but today I've spend at least 2 hours on your web site. I think it's great and ... I have recommended it already to so many people all around the world. ~ Vlatko |
