When Antiwar.com was founded, 17 years ago, we didn't have a staff, we didn't write and run our own news articles, we didn't have columnists, and our audience didn't go beyond a few thousand readers. We also didn't have fundraisers – because we were too busy to stop and ask our readers for money. They sent it in anyway – and from there we grew into the world's premier antiwar web site.

Today we are a slightly larger operation. Our audience is big: over 1 million visits in the past 30 days. But our resources – not so much. We're still dependent on the kindness and commitment of our readers – you – to keep this web site going. Compared to Washington's unlimited war chest, we are a mere David facing up to a giant Goliath – and we still need your help in leveling the battlefield.

We hoped to avoid devoting more of the front page to the fundraiser this time around, and we'll hold off as long as we can – there's just too much of vital importance going on in the world. But we can't keep doing that unless donations pick up considerably.

So it's up to you – please make your tax-deductible contribution today.
