The Serb Christian Orthodox monasteries and churches in Kosovo increasingly become the targets of Albanian gangs which in many instances do not hesitate to plant explosive devices in churches destroying them completely.

According to facts provided by the Serb Orthodox Church, 59 Orthodox monasteries and churches have been destroyed in Kossovo since June 26, while a large number of churches have suffered smaller damages mainly in their interior.

The destroyed churches and monasteries had been built between the 10th and the 16th century and certain of them were under the protection of UNESCO.
