KOSOVO: ALBANIANS OPEN FIRE ON RUSSIAN PEACEKEEPERS
Belgrade, 26/08/1999 (MPA)

Albanians opened fire against Russian peacekeepers near the city of Gnjilane, Kosovo, last night, according to Belgrade's independent agency Beta which reported that there were "no victims among Russians."

As the Russian news agency Itar-Tass reported, the incident occurred in the village of Pasjana, where about ten armed Albanians attacked four Serb priests, beat them and wounded one of them.

Villagers called in Russian peacekeepers, who took the priests to a military hospital.

Fire was opened on the Russians from an ambush when they were evacuating the priests.
