Pro-War Propagandists Try To Shut Down All Dissent

Despite near total dominance of the narrative in the media, Canada’s NATO stenographers seem worried. Their reaction to an interview by South Africa’s envoy suggests an understanding that much of the world and many Canadians disagree with them.

In a recent Canadian Press interview South Africa’s High Commissioner to Canada, Rieaz Shaik, criticized Canada’s role in the NATO proxy war. In response to "South Africa envoy urges Ukraine peace talks, says Canada stance on war ‘shocking’," Andrew Coyne complained that CP interviewed Shaik. The prominent CBC and Globe and Mail commentator tweeted, "not at all clear why CP considers this newsworthy," which begs the question of why Coyne bothered tweeting about something he considered unnewsworthy. More substantially, CP has published dozens of interviews with US, British, German, Latvian and Polish officials on Ukraine. Why wouldn’t South Africa’s position, especially since it diverges with Ottawa’s, be relevant to Canadians?

Where Are Voices for Peace in Canada’s Parliament?

Canada is calling for "regime change" in Russia in a new escalation of the NATO proxy war.

During a press conference on Friday foreign affairs minister Mélanie Joly said, "we’re able to see how much we’re isolating the Russian regime right now – because we need to do so economically, politically and diplomatically – and what are the impacts also on society, and how much we’re seeing potential regime change in Russia." On a day the government announced a full ban on Russian steel and aluminum imports, Joly added that "the goal is definitely to do that [regime change]."

A day earlier Defense Minister Anita Anand announced the expedited purchase of hundreds of millions of dollars in anti-tank, anti-aircraft and anti-drone weapons for Canadian Forces in eastern Europe. The arms for Canadians stationed on Russia’s border in Latvia will be purchased through a fast-track mechanism last used during the war in Afghanistan.

Despite Hot Air About Balloons Canada Should Withdraw From NORAD

On the opinion page of Monday’s Globe and Mail, Royal Military College of Canada professor Christian Leuprecht argued that the recent shootdown of four different "objects" over North American airspace should lead to "redoubling our commitment to NORAD." Erasing decades of Cold War propaganda, the Director of University of Manitoba’s Centre for Defence and Security Studies, Andrea Charron, took to the pages of the National Post to write that the North American Aerospace Defense Command is "now needed more than ever." For its part, the Canadian Press published "Airborne incursions offers clear evidence that NORAD needs upgrade: the US expert."

But the balloon/UFO panic is a bread only sandwich. US officials are now admitting the three unidentified objects they recently shot down may have been "tied to commercial or research entities and therefore benign." Additionally, the Washington Post reports that US officials tracked the Chinese balloon from Hainan island and that it "may have been diverted on an errant path."

Amidst Hysteria, Calling for Peace Is Hate; More War Is Peace

Apparently discussing the "path to peace" in Ukraine is hateful. After trying to ban a talk questioning Canada’s role in the NATO proxy war a Ukrainian student group smeared it.

Two weeks ago, I spoke with Tamara Lorincz and Miguel Figueroa at a Carleton University event titled "The War in Ukraine: What is the Path to Peace?" The Carleton Ukrainian Students’ Club sought to have the Ottawa Peace Council event canceled. After failing they released a statement claiming Ukrainians on campus faced hate, which they linked to the talk. In response the student paper published "Carleton student groups address anti-Ukrainian hate on campus" and CBC Ottawa published "Anti-Ukrainian vandalism, harassment rising at Canadian universities, students say."

The Carleton campaign follows a similar effort at the University of Victoria. The Ukrainian Students’ Society accused the Young Communist League (YCL) of hate. The media has echoed the campaign with recent articles headlined: "UVic launches investigation into alleged anti-Ukrainian harassment on campus" (CTV Vancouver Island); "Ukrainian students at UVic ask for security after harassment" (Times Colonist),;"Ukrainian students say so far, UVic probe into harassment allegations hasn’t involved them" (CHEK News); "Concern over ‘anti-Ukrainian hatred’ on Canadian campuses" (Times of Higher Education).

Canada’s Actions, Inactions Leading Us Closer to Nuclear War

Humanity is a mistake away from "nuclear annihilation," according to the head of the United Nations. But the Canadian government refuses to support efforts to lessen that risk. In fact, they’ve pursued policies that increase the likelihood of nuclear war.

At Monday’s opening of the review conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned of the dangers of nuclear weapons. He said, "humanity is just one misunderstanding, one miscalculation away from nuclear annihilation." Numerous other prominent individuals have made similar statements and the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists Doomsday Clock is set to 100 seconds to midnight.

The war in Ukraine has greatly increased the possibility of nuclear war. By promoting NATO expansion, the overthrow of an elected Ukrainian president in 2014 and subsequent eight-year war in the east, Canada helped precipitate the war. Since Russia’s illegal and brutal invasion, Ottawa has poured in weapons, encouraged Canadians to go fight and sent Canadian special forces. At the same time, they’ve openly opposed negotiations to end the war.

US Pushers of War With China Find Canadian Allies

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s planned trip to Taiwan combined with the head of the US military Mark Milley recently calling the Chinese military "noticeably more aggressive" has greatly ratcheted up tensions with the world’s most populous nation.

Major Canadian media and think tanks are pressing for this country to join the conflict. They have recently offered suggestions on how to "win the new Cold War" with China (Globe and Mail), called for promoting Taiwanese independence (McDonald Laurier Institute) and accused the country of "committing mass atrocity crimes and grave human rights violations against the Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims" (Toronto Star). Through endless stories in recent years about Chinese spying and technology theft, as well as influence over Canadian cultural and schooling initiatives, the dominant media has established the ideological terrain for conflict. Echoing "Russiagate" nonsense, last month former Conservative leader Erin O’Toole even claimed his party lost "about eight or nine seats" in the last election due to Chinese interference.
