{"id":10067,"date":"2011-06-14T07:46:35","date_gmt":"2011-06-14T15:46:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/?p=10067"},"modified":"2011-06-14T07:54:45","modified_gmt":"2011-06-14T15:54:45","slug":"instability-in-iraq-forever-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/14\/instability-in-iraq-forever-war\/","title":{"rendered":"Instability in Iraq, Forever War"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/2011\/06\/14\/115747\/another-local-council-building.html\">Violence is rising in Iraq<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Eight people, including four policemen, and 27 wounded Tuesday when insurgents burst into the offices of the Diyala provincial council north of Baghdad, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The attack was similar to the assault in March on the officials of the council in Salahuddin province in Saddam Hussein&#8217;s hometown of Tikrit. That attack claimed the lives of more than 50.<\/p>\n<p>The attack began when a suicide bomber set off his explosives at the council buildings&#8217; main checkpoint. Shortly after, a car bomb exploded nearby and four insurgents, wearing police uniforms, rushed into the building and began shooting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Also, from Peter Van Buren&#8217;s blog <a href=\"http:\/\/wemeantwell.com\/blog\/\">We Meant Well <\/a>(listen to his <a href=\"http:\/\/antiwar.com\/radio\/2011\/06\/11\/peter-van-buren\/\">interview with Scott Horton on Antiwar Radio<\/a>), we have <a href=\"http:\/\/wemeantwell.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/13\/iraq-violence-graph\/\">this graph<\/a> of violence in Iraq over the last six months:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wemeantwell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/Iraq-Violence-Graph.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"282\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also notes <a href=\"http:\/\/wemeantwell.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/12\/iraq-democracy-watch\/\">a list of recent problems<\/a> with Iraqi democracy, as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/wemeantwell.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/13\/what-4460-americans-died-for-in-iraq\/\">heightened\u00a0clashes between pro-Malaki (Shiite) forces and anti-Malaki forces (Sunni)<\/a>.
