In <a href=http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/barganier\/?articleid=2773>yesterday&#8217;s column<\/a> I referred to my dad as the <i>only<\/i> delegate at the 1980 Republican National Convention to vote against George H.W. Bush for vice president. Not true, he informed me; he was the first to announce he was going to do so, and the only delegate from his state to do it. <\/p>\n<p>After this successful (albeit unintentional) foray into mythmaking, I&#8217;m now considering applying for work at the <i><a href=http:\/\/www.salon.com\/news\/feature\/2004\/05\/27\/times\/index_np.html>New York Times<\/a><\/i> and the <i><a href=http:\/\/www.prospect.org\/web\/page.ww?section=root&#038;name=ViewWeb&#038;articleId=7815>Weekly Standard<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mea culpa.
