So it&#8217;d be inaccurate to say that the U.S. <a href=\"http:\/\/foreignassistance.gov\/OU.aspx?OUID=165&amp;FY=2012\">propped up the Mubarak dictatorship<\/a>\u00a0for decades, receiving the most economic and military aid of any other state besides Israel? Is it &#8220;inaccurate&#8221; or &#8220;unfair&#8221; to resent U.S. leadership for condoning <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrw.org\/legacy\/english\/docs\/2004\/02\/25\/egypt7658_txt.pdf\">the Mubarak regime&#8217;s torture, which was systematic<\/a>? Is it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/14\/egypt-rejects-u-s-democracy-funding\/\">out of line<\/a> for Egyptians to be soured at the fact that t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2011\/08\/03\/mubarak-trial-begins-but-none-for-his-american-counterparts\/\">he crimes for which Mubarak is now facing criminal trial were committed with U.S. diplomatic support, U.S. money, and U.S. weapons<\/a>? And I guess Egyptians are just being overly sensitive about the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2011\/08\/01\/egyptian-army-clears-tahrir-with-force\/\">ongoing U.S. support for the transitional military council which has been continuing many Mubarak-style crimes and hindering the path to democracy<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>If any of the above had been done to Americans from an outside power, you can bet we&#8217;d be more than peeved. In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/06\/04\/us\/politics\/04obama.text.html\">Obama&#8217;s 2009 speech in Cairo<\/a>, he said &#8220;No system of government can or should be imposed upon one nation by another.&#8221; I suppose he meant that only to apply to The Chosen People of America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AP: The Obama administration is expressing concern about what it says is a tide of anti-Americanism in Egypt.
