{"id":11777,"date":"2011-09-19T15:47:22","date_gmt":"2011-09-19T23:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/?p=11777"},"modified":"2011-09-19T16:46:05","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T00:46:05","slug":"critique-of-obama-foreign-policy-in-5-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/19\/critique-of-obama-foreign-policy-in-5-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"Critique of Obama Foreign Policy in 5 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One thing that I&#8217;ve been discouraged by is the lack of antiwar music. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_anti-war_songs#Gulf_War.28s.29.2C_Iraq.2C_9.2F11.2C_and_the_War_on_Terror\">It certainly is out there,<\/a> but does not come close to what was seen during the Vietnam war era. Perhaps it&#8217;s because of the lack of awareness due to our consumption culture, reality TV nation, or lack of a draft. But for whatever the reason, so much music of today is petty garbage more concerned with the latest pair of sneakers or mommy and daddy problems than real world issues.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/LowkeyMusic1\">Lowkey, aka Kareem Dennis,<\/a> with the help of M-1 of Dead Prez and Black the Ripper offers the most riveting critique of American foreign policy that I have ever heard in song form. In a truly beautiful and dark style, Lowkey holds no punches attacking American militarism gone awry and &#8220;Peace President&#8221; Obama. An ode to his honesty is the following, &#8220;I say things that other rappers won&#8217;t say &#8217;cause my mind never close like Guantanamo Bay.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, this man is no foreign policy lightweight. From pondering a possible &#8220;humanitarian&#8221; attack on Syria:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Drones over Pakistan, Yemen and Libya<\/p>\n<p>Is Obama the bomber getting ready for Syria?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bibliotecapleyades.net\/sociopolitica\/sociopol_obama67.htm\">To the Obama administration&#8217;s coup attempt in Ecuador:\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Did he defend the war? No! He extended more<\/p>\n<p>He even had the time to attempt a coup in Ecuador<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s clear that he digs deeper than what the establishment media spoon feeds the rest of society.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I am not a huge fan of rap. This song, however, blew my mind.
