Escalating tensions between the US and Pakistan have only been getting worse. As Pepe Escobar notes, this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2011\/09\/26\/us-pakistan-usa-idUSTRE78P0GI20110926\">&#8220;row&#8221;<\/a>&#8211;as it is called by the mainstream media&#8211;has the potential to deteriorate quickly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atimes.com\/atimes\/south_asia\/mi30df01.html\">into one hot mess:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Expect a festival of MQ-9 Reapers droning North Waziristan to death. What US President Barack Obama calls a tool of &#8220;unique capabilities&#8221;, for Pashtun farmers is a weapon of terror.<\/p>\n<p>Expect strike after strike conducted out of a control room in Nellis air force base in Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>Expect an array of strategic missile bombings with spectacular collateral damage.<\/p>\n<p>Expect more Joint Special Operations Command-ordered special operations forces &#8220;kill\/capture&#8221; raids.<\/p>\n<p>Expect a new, humongous Joint Prioritized Effects List, just like in Afghanistan; no names, just a list of mobile or satellite phone numbers. If your mobile gets on the list by mistake, you&#8217;ll be snuffed the Hellfire way.<\/p>\n<p>Expect deadly, eternal Pashtun vengeance against Americans to be as irreversible as death and taxes.<\/p>\n<p>And most of all, expect a low intensity war to turn volcanic anytime.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, to make matters worse, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2011\/10\/02\/as-afghan-ieds-soar-us-commanders-blame-pakistan\/\">the US is blaming Pakistan as the source for IED&#8217;s<\/a> that plague the war effort in Afghanistan. They claim fertilizer, the main ingredient in IED&#8217;s, moves freely across the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>While solutions are already being brainstormed by top military brass, two important questions remain concerning these accusations: does the United States have definitive proof, <a href=\"http:\/\/ipsnews.net\/news.asp?idnews=42373\">unlike the debunked claims<\/a> from 2007 that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/world\/iraq\/2007-01-30-ied-iran_x.htm\">Iran was supplying Iraqi fighters with weapons<\/a>? And, if true, why doesn&#8217;t the US halt all aid in the form of fertilizer to Pakistan that it continues to give <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/pk\/about\/klb.html\">year<\/a> after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/pk\/about\/history.html\">year<\/a>?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And the award goes to&#8230;Pakistan!
