It was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/04\/hassle-free-justice-awlakis-rights-would-have-got-in-the-way-of-his-prosecution\/\">murder without due process<\/a>, guaranteed him by the Fifth Amendment. Less people know about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/anwar-al-awlakis-family-speaks-out-against-his-sons-deaths\/2011\/10\/17\/gIQA8kFssL_story.html?hpid=z3\">the same fate befalling his 16-year old son<\/a> (I reported on it <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2011\/10\/15\/us-strike-kills-awlakis-son-along-with-9-others\/\">here<\/a>, but details have since been clarified and expanded upon):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the days before a CIA drone strike killed<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/aulaqi-incited-young-muslims-to-attacks-against-west\/2011\/09\/30\/gIQACMaKAL_story.html\">\u00a0al-Qaeda operative Anwar al-Awlaki<\/a>\u00a0last month, his 16-year-old son ran away from the family home in Yemen\u2019s capital of Sanaa to try to find him, relatives say. When he, too, was killed in a U.S. airstrike Friday, the Awlaki family decided to speak out for the first time since the attacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo kill a teenager is just unbelievable, really, and they claim that he is an al-Qaeda militant. It\u2019s nonsense,\u201d said Nasser al-Awlaki, a former Yemeni agriculture minister who was Anwar al-Awlaki\u2019s father and the boy\u2019s grandfather, speaking in a phone interview from Sanaa on Monday. \u201cThey want to justify his killing, that\u2019s all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The teenager, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, a U.S. citizen who was born in Denver in 1995, and his 17-year-old Yemeni cousin\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/middle-east\/yemen-says-media-chief-for-al-qaidas-yemeni-branch-killed-along-with-6-others-in-airstrike\/2011\/10\/15\/gIQAzogalL_story.html\">were killed in a U.S. military strike\u00a0<\/a>that left nine people dead in southeastern Yemen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Abdulrahman al-Awlaki&#8217;s family has set up a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Abdulrahman-Anwar-Al-Awlaki-locked-in-our-hearts\/278913108798118?sk=wall\">memorial Facebook page<\/a>.
