With high corruption and no functioning legal system to write home about, victims of abuse like this have no recourse. Reuters <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2012\/03\/27\/us-bahrain-teenager-police-idUSBRE82Q0MJ20120327\">reports today<\/a>\u00a0that a teenage boy was abducted by &#8220;plainclothes detectives&#8221; who &#8220;dragged him into a garage and beat him into unconsciousness after he refused to spy&#8221; on other youth protesters. The boy came out and told his story, and the government simply denied it.<\/p>\n<p>Overall repression remains high and widespread. <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2012\/03\/09\/bahrain-reform-seems-far-off-after-biggest-protests-in-a-year\/\">No substantive move toward reform<\/a> as occurred and the tyrannical government <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2012\/02\/09\/us-urged-restraint-in-bahrain-after-sending-arms-to-the-dictatorship\/\">continues to receive Washington&#8217;s support<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brian Dooley, of Human Rights First, on Bahrain: They said they had been severely beaten by the police in the previous two days. &#8220;They beat us until they got tired, then other policemen would take over and beat us more,&#8221; said one boy.
