So I asked the most important one: given the definition laid out in\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Holder_v._Humanitarian_Law_Project\">Holder v. Humanitarian Law Project<\/a>,<\/em>was he at all concerned that his\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UHyVX7rg8co\">advocacy<\/a>\u00a0on behalf of the Iranian dissident group the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/People\">MEK<\/a>\u00a0could be defined as material support for terrorism under the PATRIOT Act?<\/p>\n<p>Bolton, visibly flustered at the suggestion that he is a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/j\/ct\/rls\/other\/des\/123085.htm\">terrorist<\/a>\u00a0supporter, disputed the premise before cutting me off:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what you\u2019re up to, but you\u2019re flatly wrong, and I\u2019m busy, so if you\u2019ll excuse me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He is indeed a busy man, but if he ever cares to take some time out of his day to explain why I\u2019m wrong, my email is jbloom[at]theamericanconservative.com. Or he could take it up with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2012\/03\/12\/washingtons_high_powered_terrorist_supporters\/\">Glenn Greenwald<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theamericanconservative.com\/larison\/nbc-report-israel-and-the-mek-responsible-for-deaths-of-iranian-nuclear-scientists\/\">Larison<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Oh, how I&#8217;d love such an inquiry from Bolton. Perhaps Jordan could also ask why Bolton&#8217;s former employer, George W. Bush, <a href=\"http:\/\/antiwar.com\/blog\/2012\/05\/15\/mek-and-that-dastardly-t-word\/\">included Saddam Hussein&#8217;s support for terrorists like MEK<\/a> in his propaganda justifying the invasion of Iraq in 2003. &#8220;Iraq shelters terrorist groups including the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization,&#8221; reads a <a href=\"http:\/\/georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov\/infocus\/iraq\/decade\/sect5.html\">document<\/a> in the archives of the White House&#8217;s website, &#8220;which has used terrorist violence against Iran and in the 1970s was responsible for killing several U.S. military personnel and U.S. civilians.&#8221; Is Bolton proud of this point of commonality between him and Saddam?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The American Conservative&#8217;s Jordon Bloom ran into a befuddled John Bolton at the Republican National Convention yesterday and had a timely question for him: He was on his way in to observe the speeches, and I knew he wouldn\u2019t have much time to answer more than a question or two in passing.
