{"id":1661,"date":"2005-01-19T09:54:29","date_gmt":"2005-01-19T16:54:29","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2005-01-19T09:54:29","modified_gmt":"2005-01-19T16:54:29","slug":"politically-correct-interventionism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2005\/01\/19\/politically-correct-interventionism\/","title":{"rendered":"Politically Correct Interventionism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first black female Secretary of State testified yesterday at her confirmation hearing that we now have an adjunct to the infamous &#8220;Axis of Evil&#8221; &#8212; the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story&#038;cid=542&#038;u=\/ap\/20050118\/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe\/outposts_of_tyranny_1&#038;printer=\">Outposts of Tyranny<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;To be sure, in our world there remain outposts of tyranny and America stands with oppressed people on every continent &#8230; in Cuba, and Burma (Myanmar), and North Korea, and Iran, and Belarus, and Zimbabwe.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll note that this new grouping of targets is geographically and ethnically diverse: a multicultural rainbow coalition of bad guys. Cuba &#8212; Hispanic. Burma &#8212; Asian.  Belarus &#8212; European. Zimbabwe &#8212; African. Iran and North Korea are thrown in as reminders..<\/p>\n<p>But this is an encouraging development: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/national\/20040916-123012-1864r.htm\">she left out Russia<\/a>.
