We Can Respond to the Tears of Kunduz Refugee, Abdul Fatah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We live in a <i>World at War, <\/i>and as fellow human beings, what can we do for refugees like 45-year-old Abdul Fatah, who has been crying lately, who doesn\u2019t have a home in his own home?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/558193896.html\"><i>World at War<\/i><\/a> is the title of a report UNHCR released in June 2015, in which Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, describes the refugee crises in Europe and worldwide as \u201can unchecked slide into an era in which the scale of global forced displacement as well as the response required is now clearly dwarfing anything seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But for those of us who are distant from <i>War<\/i> and not \u201cin the same boat\u201d, being part of the \u201cresponse required\u201d seems just as \u201cout-of-reach\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/enough.ourjourneytosmile.com\/wordpress\/enough-we-can-respond-to-the-tears-of-kunduz-refugee-abdul-fatah\/\">So, please follow this story for a while.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ali, one of the Afghan Peace Volunteers, is 17 years old. On October 6<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015, he would have liked to plan for school, as usual, the next day. He wanted to feel affirmed by his teachers and peers. He wanted to know that his mother in Bamiyan was fine for another day.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But, in Kabul, the news from Kunduz was worrying him, and the all-night blasts and whistles of bombs and gunfire a few nights before had made him think, \u201cPerhaps, I should pack up and return to Bamiyan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet, on the 7<sup>th<\/sup> of October 2015, the anniversary of the beginning of the U.S. Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan 14 years ago, Ali and the Afghan Peace Volunteers decided instead to meet with members of five Afghan families who had fled the war in Kunduz. Together, they listened to and extended small gifts to these families.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rediffmail.com\/cgi-bin\/red.cgi?red=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu%2Ebe%2FmccaxjZRByY&amp;isImage=0&amp;BlockImage=0&amp;rediffng=0&amp;rogue=c5f5814b777287de3683ec894393716843336b54\" target=\"_blank\">Abdul Fatah told his refugee story. \u201cMy tears fall every day &amp; I can\u2019t bring myself to eat<\/a>. I eat this little bread &amp; the bread seems to eat me up.
