{"id":2699,"date":"2006-03-21T20:35:02","date_gmt":"2006-03-22T03:35:02","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2006-03-21T20:35:02","modified_gmt":"2006-03-22T03:35:02","slug":"lets-go-get-saddam-and-get-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2006\/03\/21\/lets-go-get-saddam-and-get-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Let&#8217;s Go Get Saddam and Get Out!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How many times did you hear some idiot say this in the waning months of 2002 and beginning of 2003?<\/p>\n<p>How many of you believe that <a href=\"\">25%<\/a> support for a war in our great &#8220;democracy&#8221; ought to indicate that the end of it is near?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the word has been out on the 14 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalsecurity.org\/org\/news\/2004\/040323-enduring-bases.htm\">enduring bases<\/a>&#8221; for two years, but there is a lot of conflicting information around, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2006\/03\/13\/AR2006031300785_pf.html\">this story<\/a> from last week where Bush said the mission would be &#8220;turned over&#8221; to the Iraqis by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Now he&#8217;s being a bit more honest. Asked today (Tues. 3\/21\/06) whether there will ever be a time when there are no American troops in Iraq, the President <a href=\"http:\/\/today.reuters.co.uk\/news\/newsArticle.aspx?type=topNews&#038;storyID=2006-03-21T170656Z_01_N21323483_RTRUKOC_0_UK-BUSH.xml\">said<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;That, of course, is an objective. And that will be decided by future presidents and future governments of Iraq.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Three years into this disaster, and there are, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amconmag.com\/2006\/2006_03_27\/cover.html\">at the very least<\/a>, three more to go.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s go get <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad\">Ahmadinejad<\/a> and get out!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How many times did you hear some idiot say this in the waning months of 2002 and beginning of 2003?
