It&#8217;s definitely not wise for pundits to take that news and bash Iraq War skeptics over the head with it. Doing so has become a ritual after every milestone in the war &#8211; the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/ac2\/wp-dyn?pagename=article&#038;contentId=A1320-2003Apr9&#038;notFound=true\">fall of Baghdad<\/a> (and the Saddam statue), the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tufts.edu\/communications\/stories\/072303TurningPoint.htm\">killing<\/a> of Uday and Qusay, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/instapundit.com\/archives\/012998.php\">capture<\/a> of Saddam, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/article.nationalreview.com\/?q=MTdkM2RjNTgyN2Q5NWNjN2U4ZDQ2YTBmMmI4NTBmYmU=\">transfer of power<\/a> to the provisional government, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0275990559\/002-8178345-8236046?v=glance&#038;n=283155\">victory<\/a> in Fallujah, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/kudlow\/kudlow200501261120.asp\">killing<\/a> of al-Zarqawi&#8217;s deputies, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tks.nationalreview.com\/post\/?q=YWZmMDlkMmFlMTQ5OWEyNGM4ZDU2Y2FhYjYxNDBiMTY=\">the first election<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.defenddemocracy.org\/in_the_media\/in_the_media_show.htm?doc_id=309363&#038;attrib_id=7374\">the second election<\/a>, the third election, and now the killing of al-Zarqawi. Every time, when victory didn&#8217;t swiftly follow, support for the war and faith in America&#8217;s Iraq policy ebbed a little further.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>10 major turning points! That&#8217;s more than most countries have in a century! Awesome. Can we leave now?<\/p>\n<p>In all likelihood, no. The violence will continue in Iraq, as we learn that Zarqawi wasn&#8217;t as indispensable to the insurgency as the Pentagon made him out to be. (Show of hands, warbloggers: how many of you know that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ho_Chi_Minh\">Ho Chi Minh died in September 1969<\/a>?) The ongoing slaughter will, of course, mean that we must stay the course.
