I&#8217;m not going to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2006\/03\/12\/sullivan-delenda-est\/\" target=\"_blank\">waste my time<\/a> on the WMDers\u00c2\u00a0anymore, because they&#8217;re\u00c2\u00a0not arguing in good faith. For instance, in the comments beneath Jim&#8217;s post,\u00c2\u00a0some guy\u00c2\u00a0writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Of course, anti-war folk \u00e2\u20ac\u201d if not Jim \u00e2\u20ac\u201d were sometimes saying that one should not invade Iraq because Saddam might use WMDs, that, er, ahem, did not exist.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;d sooner try to convert Osama bin Laden to Buddhism than\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;debate&#8221; this hack.\u00c2\u00a0Let&#8217;s see: Antiwar people didn&#8217;t think the war was justified to begin with, because &#8220;WMD&#8221; or not,\u00c2\u00a0Iraq posed no threat to the U.S.; they sniffed something mighty piscine in the WMD claims the administration made; they\u00c2\u00a0wondered aloud how anyone who believed said claims could be so\u00c2\u00a0gung-ho about hurling American teenagers at Baghdad.\u00c2\u00a0Oh, the contradictions!<\/p>\n<p>Another comment, by Jon Henke, is even more demonstrative of bad faith, if read closely (emphasis mine):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For the record, I did cite numerous potentially exculpatory explanations like \u00e2\u20ac\u009dthe documents could be (1) fraudulent, (2) <strong>in reference to legal chemical\/biological programs (i.e., medical research, agricultural development<\/strong>, etc), (3) produced to deceive the bureaucracy and Saddam about the extent of operations.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I must ask Mr. Henke\u00c2\u00a0whether he noted\u00c2\u00a0such exculpatory possibilities <em>prior<\/em> to the invasion, or if he, like the rest of his brethren, screamed &#8220;DUAL USE! DUAL USE!&#8221; about every aluminum tube and\u00c2\u00a0batch of vaccine in Mesopotamia. If, in a moment of charitable weakness, you think the WMDers are\/were merely misguided, remember &#8220;dual use,&#8221; the catchall lie behind this whole rotten enterprise.\u00c2\u00a0The war party\u00c2\u00a0denied\u00c2\u00a0the falsifiability\u00c2\u00a0of its\u00c2\u00a0WMD thesis by declaring all technology\u00c2\u00a0above\u00c2\u00a0the level of the wheel\u00c2\u00a0suspect. They consciously rigged\u00c2\u00a0Iraq&#8217;s wheel of fortune to always land on\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;Attack.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0And for that, they\u00c2\u00a0deserve no presumption of\u00c2\u00a0honesty or, for that matter, innocence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How Jim Henley has the patience to still do this\u00c2\u00a0is beyond me.
