said Special Agent Russell Fincher said. &#8216;I needed his cooperation.&#8217; &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;He said the agency had hoped Padilla could provide information about an al-Qaida plot to detonate a radioactive device, or so-called &#8216;dirty bomb&#8217; on U.S. soil, and needed an insider&#8230;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And then when <a href=\"http:\/\/news.monstersandcritics.com\/northamerica\/printer_1182035.php\">he refused<\/a>, they <a href=\"http:\/\/64.233.161.104\/search?q=cache:mqN9tQ_ViLEJ:archives.cnn.com\/2002\/US\/06\/10\/ashcroft.announcement\/+ashcroft+moscow&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=us&amp;ct=clnk&amp;cd=1\">accused him<\/a> of plotting that very thing and turned him over to the military so he could not confront his accusers.<\/p>\n<p>When the Administration found out that the Supreme Court was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/10152846\/\">getting ready to hear the case<\/a> and rule that <a href=\"http:\/\/64.233.161.104\/search?q=cache:TAjfYu4YSnAJ:www.antiwar.com\/blog\/index.php%3Fid%3DP2729+got+adhd%3F+antiwar&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=us&amp;ct=clnk&amp;cd=1\">the Bill of Rights<\/a> applied to him, the DoJ finally had some idiot grand jury indict him.<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing about a &#8220;dirty bomb&#8221; or a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intelmessages.org\/Messages\/National_Security\/wwwboard\/messages_04\/8086.html\">plot to blow up apartments<\/a> or anything remotely resembling such activity in <a href=\"http:\/\/fl1.findlaw.com\/news.findlaw.com\/cnn\/docs\/padilla\/uspad111705ind.pdf\">the indictment<\/a> [.pdf] anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Remember when former Deputy Secretary of Defense, Paul Wolfowitz, <a href=\"http:\/\/64.233.161.104\/search?q=cache:xQHTI-kTSg0J:www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/main.jhtml%3B%24sessionid%24N3Y3KXYAADNMTQFIQMFSFFWAVCBQ0IV0%3Fxml%3D\/news\/2002\/06\/13\/wdirt13.xml%26sSheet%3D\/news\/2002\/06\/13\/ixnewstop.html+%22I+don%27t+think+there+was+actually+a+plot+beyond+some+fairly+loose+talk%22&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=us&amp;ct=clnk&amp;cd=5\">admitted that Padilla was innocent<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>He was just a schmuck who refused to cooperate with their plans to <a href=\"http:\/\/jimbovard.com\/blog\/2006\/07\/07\/fbi-agents-suggest-blowing-up-government-buildings\/\">entrap<\/a> someone else.<\/p>\n<p>Now that there&#8217;s no Soviet Union, <a href=\"http:\/\/64.233.161.104\/search?q=cache:Uag9tfyzV7QJ:fromoccupiedpalestine.org\/node.php%3Fid%3D545+%22At+least+6,000+of+the+Palestinian+political+prisoners+are+being+held+without+charges%22&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=us&amp;ct=clnk&amp;cd=1\">who<\/a> can we point to in order to convince ourselves that the American system is superior to anyone&#8217;s?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FBI wanted Padilla&#8217;s help, not arrest &#8220;&#8216;I didn&#8217;t want to arrest him,&#8217;
