Sam Gardiner, interviewed on Monday by CNN&#8217;s Wolf Blitzer, had <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2006\/09\/18\/gardiner-iran\/\">this to say<\/a> about the possibility of U.S. military operations against Iran:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>BLITZER: How close in your opinion is the Bush Administration to giving that go ahead.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>GARDINER: It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been given. In fact, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve probably been executing military operations inside Iran for at least 18 months. The evidence is overwhelming.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But of course they have a plan to attack Iran: doesn&#8217;t the U.S. have a &#8220;contingency&#8221; plan to attack each and every nation on earth, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2005\/12\/29\/AR2005122901412_pf.html\">just in case<\/a>? Ah, but there&#8217;s one difference here: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The plan has gone to the White House,&#8221; say Col. Gardiner. &#8220;That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not normal planning. When the plan goes to the White House, that means we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve gone to a different state.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/justin\/j021302.html\">arguing<\/a> for quite some time now, we&#8217;ve all been in &#8220;a different state&#8221; since 9\/11\/01 &#8212; having slipped into an <a href=\"http:\/\/theages.superman.ws\/Encyclopaedia\/bizarro.php\">alternate universe<\/a> that bears a frightening resemblance to Bizarro World as a result, I imagine, of the sheer concussive force of the terrorist attacks that day, which ripped a hole in the space-time continuum and delivered us to the not-so-tender mercies of a malevolent Bizarro God. I mean, what else does a Bizarro President do when faced with a losing war in Iraq, and hatred of America around the world?
