{"id":3427,"date":"2007-04-10T13:01:27","date_gmt":"2007-04-10T20:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2007\/04\/10\/washington-post-liars-caught\/"},"modified":"2007-04-10T13:01:27","modified_gmt":"2007-04-10T20:01:27","slug":"washington-post-liars-caught","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2007\/04\/10\/washington-post-liars-caught\/","title":{"rendered":"<em>Washington Post<\/em> Liars Caught!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/atrios.blogspot.com\/2007_04_01_atrios_archive.html#117595681241609223\">Atrios<\/a> (Via <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.lewrockwell.com\/lewrw\/archives\/012667.html\">Lew Rockwell<\/a>) has caught the <em>Washington Post<\/em> attempting to lie you into another war.<\/p>\n<p>I had noticed a funny thing to make it into print in today&#8217;s Antiwar.com top story from the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/2007\/0410\/p01s02-woiq.html\">Christian Science Monitor<\/a><\/em> while reading it on my radio show this morning. Dig this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The US military also issued a statement on Sunday calling the operation in Diwaniyah, dubbed Black Eagle, a &#8220;great success&#8221; so far. It said it detained 39 militiamen and killed an unspecified number. It also has uncovered &#8220;many large caches of weapons,&#8221; <strong>including factories that make explosively formed penetrators (EFPs), devices that Washington accuses Tehran of supplying to Sadr&#8217;s militia<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You remember the EFPs right? The IEDs that are so powerful they got a brand new acronym a couple months back? The ones that, as the <em>Monitor <\/em>notes above, the U.S. government has accused Iran of supplying to the Iraqi Shi&#8217;ite militias that America and Iran are both currently backing? (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalresearch.ca\/index.php?context=viewArticle&#038;code=POR20070215&#038;articleId=4812\">Gareth Porter explains the truth about them here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Well, here was also <a href=\"http:\/\/in.today.reuters.com\/news\/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldNews&#038;storyID=2007-04-07T070830Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-293355-4.xml\">this Reuters piece<\/a> from Saturday which included the same information. The <em>Post <\/em>ran the story, but apparently one of their editors (liars) realized this might reveal the holes in War Party claims that these new &#8220;EFPs&#8221; must be coming from Iran. After all, here, supposedly, is a whole EFP factory just a few miles south of Baghdad.<\/p>\n<p>The paragraphs revealing Iraqi EFP-self-reliance were then excised from <em>Post <\/em>version of the story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Red alert! Quick! Get out your Pravda pen\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 brand exacto-knives and get to work before some damn blogger catches us admitting the truth in contradiction to one more of our half-baked excuses for war against Iran!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Too Late. You&#8217;re caught, discredited <em>Washington Post <\/em>liars. From <a href=\"http:\/\/atrios.blogspot.com\/2007_04_01_atrios_archive.html#117595681241609223\">Eschaton<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Washington Post version of the story, as captured by Google News&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mywebpages.comcast.net\/duncanblack\/wapo.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nThat paragraph is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/04\/07\/AR2007040700397.html\">missing from that WaPo version of the story.<\/a>  But you do have this:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd> The U.S. military said two U.S. soldiers died in separate roadside bombings in the east and west of Baghdad on Friday.<strong> One of the bombs was an explosively formed projectile, a particularly deadly type of device which Washington accuses Iran of supplying Iraqi militants. <\/strong>[AWC bold] <\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Am I supposed to believe that this was anything but a deliberate, premeditated act meant to deny the truth to people who may cite it as a reason to not have a war and replace it with more government lies?<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Post <\/em>is forever disgraced and has been. This is just another nail in their coffin.<\/p>\n<p>To any <em>Post <\/em>reporter who considers himself an actual journalist, why not pick today to resign from that War Party propaganda rag?<\/p>\n<p>What?
