A\u00c2\u00a0hardcore neocon whose journalistic and other credentials have often been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.warandpiece.com\/blogdirs\/003393.html\">in conflict<\/a>, today Rubin\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/corner.nationalreview.com\/post\/?q=OTFjZGJjNDdmZDcxYWY4ZjFiN2Y5ZTNmYTUyM2U0YzQ\">notes <\/a>the following:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hardline, state-controlled press <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kayhanintl.com\/jun26\/w1.htm\">reprinting<\/a> articles from U.S.-based Antiwar.com.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If you follow the link you find a piece by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charley_Reese\">Charley Reese<\/a> (although the Iranians don&#8217;t give him a byline), a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingfeatures.com\/sales\/kol.htm\">King Features<\/a> columnist, which did indeed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/reese\/?articleid=11182\">appear<\/a> on Antiwar.com &#8212; as it did in several newspapers across the country, as well as online on several sites.<\/p>\n<p>This is the neocon smear method, which they tried &#8212; with very limited success &#8212; on professors <a href=\"http:\/\/mearsheimer.uchicago.edu\/\">John J. Mearsheimer<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ksgfaculty.harvard.edu\/Stephen_Walt\">Stephen Walt<\/a> when their Harvard University <a href=\"http:\/\/ksgnotes1.harvard.edu\/Research\/wpaper.nsf\/rwp\/RWP06-011\">study<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lrb.co.uk\/v28\/n06\/print\/mear01_.html\">Israel lobby<\/a> came out. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysun.com\/article\/29380\">David Duke<\/a>, they <a href=\"http:\/\/antiwar.com\/justin\/?articleid=8832\">averred<\/a>, had endorsed the Mearsheimer-Walt thesis &#8212; and what else do we need to know? A great way to divert attention from the real issue, which the neocons don&#8217;t want discussed: <em>Look<\/em>! Over <em>here<\/em>! No &#8212; over <em>there<\/em>! This way, they never have to discuss any actual issues, or make any real arguments &#8212; just the <a href=\"http:\/\/rous.redbarn.org\/objectivism\/Writing\/DavidKing\/GuideToObjectivism\/FALLACYS.HTM#191\">argument from intimidation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The clear implication is that we are agents of a foreign power, and\/or that we support the Iranian government: after all, why would they reprint something that we posted on Antiwar.com?
