{"id":4343,"date":"2008-05-27T11:33:18","date_gmt":"2008-05-27T18:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/?p=4343"},"modified":"2008-05-28T11:16:26","modified_gmt":"2008-05-28T18:16:26","slug":"ron-paul-goes-respectful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/27\/ron-paul-goes-respectful\/","title":{"rendered":"Ron Paul Goes &#8220;Respectful&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2008\/05\/26\/AR2008052601620.html\">Washington Post<\/a> has an article today on the number of Ron Paul\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s relatives who worked for his presidential campaign.<br \/>\n         I will be curious if there are other analyses of how the Paul campaign spent $30 million.<br \/>\n        The <em>Post <\/em>article quoted Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton saying that Paul would be &#8220;continuing a positive, respectful campaign to influence the policies of the Republican Party.&#8221;<br \/>\n     How can one run a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153respectful\u00e2\u20ac\u009d campaign when the opponent favors quasi-genocide?<br \/>\n      At what moment did the Ron Paul campaign decide to begin pulling their punches?<br \/>\n     According to one insider, Ron Paul is now focusing primarily on negotiating with the Republican National Committee to get a good speaking slot at the Republican Convention in September.<br \/>\n     Instead of bringing down the roof, is Ron Paul now angling for a seat at the table? <\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE<\/strong>: Some folks are questioning whether Congressman Paul is focusing on getting a speaking slot at the GOP convention.  The <em>Washington Post<\/em> reported on May 6 that &#8220;Paul&#8217;s campaign hopes to turn such support into upward of 50 delegates for the  party&#8217;s national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul in September, <strong>where he is gunning for a speaking slot<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Paul campaign did not dispute this report when it was published earlier this month. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Washington Post has an article today on the number of Ron Paul\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s relatives who worked for his presidential campaign.
