The warmongers are in charge in Washington DC: the US rejected the idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine ahead of the Ukrainian counteroffensive that is playing out now. If you read Antiwar.com, you knew that in the lead-up to the counteroffensive, the US did not think the Ukrainians could regain much territory. We pointed this out with the leaks from Discord and media reports at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>Despite the reality on the ground, the Biden administration pushed for the counteroffensive anyway. Now it\u2019s clear the assault is failing, and that an untold number of Ukrainians are losing their limbs or even lives. The US has also sought to remedy Ukraine\u2019s ammunition shortages by sending widely banned cluster bombs, which leave behind small unexploded submunitions that will kill and maim Ukrainian civilians for decades to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the first days of the war, the White House called the use of cluster bombs in Ukraine a “potential war crime.” The White House was right. Now the White House is facilitating war crimes.<\/span><\/p>\n

These facts dispel the myth that the US and NATO care about Ukrainians and make clear that the purpose of Western intervention in the war is to “weaken” Russia by using Ukrainians as cannon fodder. It\u2019s difficult to keep track of these facts in the face of so much war propaganda, which is why Antiwar.com is as important as ever.<\/span><\/p>\n
