{"id":4500,"date":"2008-08-06T08:32:40","date_gmt":"2008-08-06T15:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/?p=4500"},"modified":"2008-08-06T08:34:24","modified_gmt":"2008-08-06T15:34:24","slug":"the-icing-on-the-yellowcake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/06\/the-icing-on-the-yellowcake\/","title":{"rendered":"The Icing on the Yellowcake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was brought to my attention this morning that some people have recently been using last month&#8217;s Iraqi government sale of Yellowcake uranium to a Canadian company as vindication for starting everyone&#8217;s favorite Middle East quagmire that&#8217;s totally going less awful now that most of the integrated neighborhoods in Iraq have been violently purged of one group or another. <\/p>\n<p>But lets not get ahead of ourselves here&#8230; lets have a <a href=\"http:\/\/wiredispatch.com\/news\/?id=240637\">look at this story when the AP first ran it<\/a>. For those who don&#8217;t want to read the whole thing, here&#8217;s the important part:<\/p>\n<p><em>Tuwaitha and an adjacent research facility were well known for decades as the centerpiece of Saddam&#8217;s nuclear efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli warplanes bombed a reactor project at the site in 1981.
