Gaza\u2019s residents furnish the blood, but we \u2013 the American taxpayers \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2023\/12\/01\/us-sent-israel-15000-bombs-since-october-7\/\">furnish<\/a> the bombs which are spilling this blood. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2023\/12\/20\/gaza-death-toll-surpasses-20000-as-un-security-council-delays-vote-on-aid\"><strong>20,000<\/strong><\/a> lives worth of blood thus far.<\/p>\n<p>When we watch war on television, we see the rockets take off, but rarely does Western media cover what happens when those rockets land. Ostensibly, it\u2019s to protect us from images which might disturb us, but truth be told, we need to be disturbed by war.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Of those who\u2019ve died thus far in Gaza since Israel began its bombing campaign on Oct. 7, at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2023\/12\/20\/gaza-death-toll-surpasses-20000-as-un-security-council-delays-vote-on-aid\">8,000<\/a> of the dead have been children, making Gaza, as UNICEF <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/gaza-most-dangerous-place-world-be-child-unicef-2023-11-22\/\">puts it<\/a>, \u201cthe most dangerous place in the world to be a child.\u201d Even more dangerous than Ukraine, where, during nearly two years of fighting, around <a href=\"https:\/\/ukraine.un.org\/en\/253322-civilian-deaths-ukraine-war-top-10000-un-says?_gl=1*1th4thl*_ga*MzYxODA0NTQ3LjE3MDEzMzk2OTI.*_ga_TK9BQL5X7Z*MTcwMTQwOTg0MS4zLjEuMTcwMTQxMDExOC4wLjAuMA..*_ga_S5EKZKSB78*MTcwMTQxMDExOC4xLjEuMTcwMTQxMDE0NC4zNC4wLjA.\">600<\/a> children have been killed. Still 600 too many, I say.<\/p>\n<p>To end the bloodshed in both of these wars \u2013 in Gaza, and in Ukraine \u2013 let us agree that whatever the differences between the fighting parties, there are no military solutions. There never are.<\/p>\n<p>We need a permanent ceasefire and peace negotiations.
