Predictably, the administration ignored the mountain of evidence showing Israeli violations of international law in their conduct of the war and their ongoing efforts to impede the delivery of humanitarian aid. Akbar Shahid Ahmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/biden-administration-report-israel-gaza_n_663e4587e4b03d2dfea56b17\" rel=\"\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>President Joe Biden\u2019s administration on Friday concluded its assessment of whether Israel is breaking international and American laws in its U.S.-backed military campaign in Gaza and did not conclude that Israel\u2019s conduct requires Washington to cut off aid for the offensive, according to a copy of the assessment reviewed by HuffPost.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Leading humanitarian agencies poured scorn on the administration\u2019s conclusions. The head of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) USA, Avril Benoit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doctorswithoutborders.org\/latest\/doctors-without-borders-responds-biden-report-israels-war-gaza\" rel=\"\">said<\/a>, \u201cThe Biden administration\u2019s analysis of Israel\u2019s war in Gaza has not proceeded as a good faith effort to uphold US law.\u201d Abby Maxman, CEO of Oxfam America, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/biden-administration-report-israel-gaza_n_663e4587e4b03d2dfea56b17\" rel=\"\">condemned<\/a> the report as \u201ca slap in the face to the Palestinian and international human rights and humanitarian organizations that provided firsthand accounts and evidence \u2015 backed by experts within the administration \u2015 on the assumption that their input would be evaluated in good faith.\u201d The Vice President of Advocacy for the International Rescue Committee, Flora Alexander, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rescue.org\/press-release\/irc-reaction-biden-administrations-assessment-israel-under-national-security\" rel=\"\">criticized<\/a> the administration for ignoring the accounts of humanitarian aid workers:<\/p>\n<p><em>The Biden Administration National Security Memorandum 20 assessment fails to acknowledge what humanitarians on the ground in Gaza are telling them: that aid is still being consistently impeded by the Israeli authorities. If humanitarian aid was flowing unhindered and at scale, one million people would not be in famine conditions and the U.S. government would not be engaging in last resort options like air drops or expensive maritime routes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oxfam\u2019s Scott Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ScottTPaul\/status\/1788787867990229256\" rel=\"\">summed up<\/a> the findings of the report, \u201cFirm legal requirements to respect IHL &amp; not block aid are being swatted away by a president who campaigned on restoring the rule of law.\u201d Jeremy Konyndyk, president of Refugees International, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JeremyKonyndyk\/status\/1789065518873194654\" rel=\"\">commented<\/a>, \u201cLots of documentation of apparent violations; yet concludes Israel&#8217;s assurances on IHL compliance are credible.
