Blackwater hired guns should be held accountable for their actions\u00e2\u20ac\u201dactions that Iraqis call premeditated murder. However, I see a major problem with this. As I <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/23\/every-iraqi-was-murdered\/\">said<\/a> when\u00c2\u00a0light sentences\u00c2\u00a0were given out to U.S. soldiers for murdering Iraqi civilians:\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;We should never forget that since the invasion and occupation of Iraq was itself aggressive, unnecessary, and immoral\u00e2\u20ac\u201cevery Iraqi killed by U.S. troops could be said to be\u00c2\u00a0murdered.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The government criticizing Blackwater is the ultimate case of the pot calling the kettle black. It diverts people&#8217;s attention from the criminality of the war. The most ardent supporters of the war can\u00c2\u00a0condemn Blackwater guards while at the same time lauding U.S. soldiers as defenders of our freedoms even though they have unleashed a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lewrockwell.com\/rockwell\/none-dare-call-genocide.html\">genocide<\/a> in Iraq. It is hard to\u00c2\u00a0get excited about the indictments of the Blackwater guards when\u00c2\u00a0I see no indictments forthcoming of George Bush, Robert Gates, and Donald Rumsfeld.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, five Blackwater guards have been indicted on charges related to a 2007 shooting in which 17 Iraqis were killed.
