I just found out that my old friend Bob Costello died in late November.<\/p>\n
Bob and I met in the late 1970s in the Libertarian Party.\u00a0\u00a0 We worked closely at the San Francisco Montgomery Street complex that included the LP, Libertarian Review<\/em>, Cato Institute, and Students for a Libertarian Society.<\/p>\n Bob and I became fast friends and worked on a number of projects together.\u00a0\u00a0 Along with Justin Raimondo, Colin Hunter, Murray Rothbard, Chris Weber, Jonnie Gilman, Scott Olmsted, Bill Evers, and others, Bob was part of the original central committee of the original Libertarian Party Radical Caucus.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bob and I worked together on many projects including the 1979 campaign against the reinstatement of draft registration, which put on 75 rallies around the nation on May 1.<\/p>\n At the time, Bob was the state director of the Libertarian Party of California (LPC) and I was national field coordinator of Students for a Libertarian Society (SLS). \u00a0 We both became dissatisfied with our jobs later that year and made a plan to trade jobs.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was quite a task, but we succeeded.\u00a0\u00a0 Bob went on to work with many pro-liberty organizations, including the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty, Americans for Limited Government, and the Sam Adams Alliance.<\/p>\n I remember Bob being a wonderful husband to Suzanne.\u00a0 They had three children, Cary (Stacie), Sarah, and Devin (Yen). \u00a0 They had two grandsons, Louie and Bobby.<\/p>\n Bob was one of the nicest and funniest people I ever met.\u00a0 I don’t remember ever having an argument with him. We kept in touch over the years, and we last spoke a few months ago.\u00a0\u00a0 I regret not keeping in closer touch in recent years.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was a regular donor to Antiwar.com.<\/p>\n
